Said exactly the same on another thread (Vindaloo I think). You've got every man and his donkey on his back at the moment. Can't wait for him to stick two fingers up to everyone at some point. Bump alert... 2 fingers up and then some!!
Were people really on Sterlings back, one England player who actually tries to make things happen?
Henderson on the other hand...

Either that or you have one hell of a memory of what you post and under what thread title.

The midfield was short of creativity last night. Henderson is a defensive midfielder and Barkley has never lived up to the hype surrounding him. It was his lazy backpass that gifted them the early goal. Mount looks promising though

I'm afraid you have rather a short memory if you believe people were not on his back. The criticism he received during the world cup was quite staggering. Thankfully he's had an incredible 18 months, learnt from Pep and become one of the best players in the world for club and country. Sterling on the other hand is useless! Joking aside, see www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44771432 . Lowest rated player during the world cup which was simply not true.

Sterling is world class, England's best player by far and second best in the PL (behind KDB). Unreal talent.

Did not used to be a sterling fan but there is no doubt he has come on in leaps and bounds this last 12 months, his finishing is much better now and does not waste the ball so often , hope ,for England's sake his star continues to rise and hope Tom has gained the confidence to go on and bag 15-20 goals this season!

I've heard of good old pound Sterling, how about giving Nichols a good old pounding..

Southgate seems to have faith in Raheem Sterling, 2 goals in 41 England appearances, perhaps we should in Nichols. Raheem is absolutely brilliant, he has pace, lots of skill and looks dangerous whenever he has the ball; enough said, I would not even begin to try and compare Sterling with Nichols, pointless and very unfair.

Some people now having to eat humble pie and even then some are making out he has just improved over the past 12 months. He's been a fantastic player for a long time but is now taking his game to that next level. He was playing well without getting the goals for England before. Made up for the lad as I really feel so much of the criticism was unjust.

No comparison in terms of ability but hopefully Nichols can emulate Sterling and shine after being written off. One of Sterling’s biggest faults used to be finishing, he stepped up and became a potent threat in the final third. If Nichols could do similar, we would have a good player on our hands.

Some players play really well for one club, and that earns them a move where they often struggle. I think this is the case for Nichols. Played well at Exeter, then a bit of a flop elsewhere. Personally I think he would be better of at Exeter. If he gets 9 goals this season I would be surprised. He was bought as a replacement for Taylor (joke). The thing I am a bit peeved with is that Telford volunteered to play of the U"23"s to keep his sharpness up, Nichols didn't. I wonder if it was arrogance or couldn't be arsed that he didn't. Think a lot of that comes down to desire; one was trying to prove himself in the game, the other had totalled transfers in excess of £700,000 and is earning in the region of £4,000 a week on top of whatever signing on fees. I suspect Nichols' contract coming to an end and his increasing propensity to shoot is no coincidence.

Sterling has got real abuse at Bournemouth over the past three years. He got the winner last season and always scores, So perhaps it’s because he’s such a talent and the abuse he gets is a back handed compliment. But he is a great player and he’s handled anything that’s been thrown at him. And by persistence and help from good managers he’s just got better and better. UTG!

Not technically very good!!! FFS, cannae believe th criticism this lad gets for you. IMO he was yer best player early doors against th Colombians, second half made some superb runs, i don't think some of th others had th vision to spot them. He was a constant threat on th final shoulder and late on was yer biggest threat on the counter. Th stick he gets reminds me of Ellis, like whom he works his socks off and despite being an attacking player is often Englands first line of defence. Woz happened to Scotland wee lass, you're a bleddy disgrace!
