One of my first memories of Twerton was beating top of the table Sunderland, 4 nil I think. Kenny Hibbitt had his leg broken but it seemed this game was the beginning of the great era for us. Hibbitt became assistant and Andy Reece stepped up in midfield. I always view this match as a massive turning point for us, but my memory may be playing tricks.

First memory of Twerton for me was visiting it during the off season to get a feel of the place just before we started playing there.
I still came back though.
Also the queue lengths, took seconds to get in to start with, the once the glory hunters turned up it took much longer and the walk from the car further. Could gauge the crowd size by how far away we parked.

2 down home to Oxford come back and win 4-2 can always remember archy beating his man down the left and unleashing a thunderbolt in the top right Archy archy archy ....and that's why asking for a memory from that long ago proves nothing! No one would ever accuse paulpirate of not being a Gashead but let's just say the memory has got kinda hazy and a bit embellished over the years and at least two different matches have been welded together here. I well remembered a match at Twerton where Oxford started like a train, were two up in no time and hit the post. It was still 0-2 with 17 minutes left and then we had a golden 10 minutes when first Gareth Taylor, then Paul Miller and finally Marcus Stewart all netted and we saw out the game 3-2...but I knew Archer didn't score in that one. So I looked up head to head in soccer base...we've never beaten them home or away by a 4-2 score line..they did beat us by that score at the Manor Ground. i do remember Archer scoring a couple of screamers at Twerton though, for some reason Chester sticks in my mind as he got two in that game and one was direct from a corner and also he got a cracker in a two one home defeat against Wycombe in the FA cup. Of course it's a bit easier to look up his exploits at Twerton as there are relatively few seasons to check in the BRFC definitive history book - Archy made his debut under Martin Dobson in the 1991-2 and did not score that campaign 1992-3 scored one goal..but it was away at Millwall in the final league game ever at the Den. 1993-4 scored six goals, but the only home goal was in that FA Cup game v Wycombe. 1994-5 scored six goals, three were at home, the two v Chester and one against Shrewsbury 1995-6 scored three goals, the only one at home being against Brighton in the Auto Windshield Trophy. 1996-7 we only played one game at Twerton and he did not score in it although he famously scored with his head in our next home match...the first one back in Bristol in ten years. so Archer scored a total of five first team goals for us at Twerton Park..and none were against Oxford. Tricksy things memories! When the question widened into favourite Rovers moment from just favourite Twerton memory I had to think for a few minutes. I reckon you always rate childhood memories more fondly...so I'm going to disqualify those starring Jarman and Wayne Jones, as well as all the brilliant stories my dad told me of Bradford, Bamford, Biggs, Hooper, Petherbridge, Lambden and Meyer...which were all magical Rovers moments for me. I think it has to be that moment that the ball trickled over the line at Wembley for the third goal in 2007 that meant for sure we had finally won at a National stadium after three failures and proved we could rise to the occasion and win a well attended match rather than choke on the big stage. f me mate you been up all night revising

Then once I found out it was just the once I wanted to work out which game you saw the Archer screamer in...and as there are a couple of Rovers related books in my bedroom it didn't take long to work out he'd scored 5 at TP during our time at Bath.

Three days later, first league home game' beat Bolton 1-0 courtesy of, Trevor Morgan Penalty.....

Too young for Twerton, my first match was around that time but it was the playoff final.
My first home match was just after we’d moved to the Mem when there was no covers on the terracing.
I remember around that time going in the family enclosure when I must have been about 9 or 10 and shouting at the ref for being blind, much to the amusement of the adults around me!

On the original note a cool sponsor, a novel idea, much better than one of the other sponsors which might not be appropriate for me to wear!

Genuinely excited about the news from today. Not sure how anyone can possibly have anything negative to say. Taking leaps forward. I'm going to be the dissenting voice on this one, I am afraid. Cash is king and the betting companies have plenty to invest,I suppose there is an argument that Rovers shouldn't lose out when probably half of the Premier and Football league clubs have betting companies as sponsors. However, having seen first hand, lives ruined by gambling addiction, I feel really uncomfortable about taking their money. The proliferation of betting adds, apps etc. is pretty unsettling. Would I be happier if we'd 'lost' money by having the 'Dog and Duck' on the front of the shirt, maybe. On the other theme of this thread, plenty of great memories from Twerton. 2nd May 1990 probably tops the football memories, but I'd also say that giving up part of the summer holidays in 1986 to dig up weeds, paint railings and clean up before Rovers took up residence remain some of the best Twerton memories for me.

There is a reason why cigarette advertising is largely banned now, alcohol advertising is being restricted and there will be a time when the massive increase in advertising for gambling will be brought in line.
This isn't from some puritan perspective, just that the vulnerable in our society tend to suffer the most.

Couple of updates released today by our sponsors.
John Motson will be the voiceover on their new sky sports TV adverts(costing them multiple millions apparently).
Also a 10% deposit bonus for all traders.
Hopefully they'll sneak us on the advert somewhere!

Nicolas Pepe, Ismaila Sarr, Maxi Gomez and Jean-Kevin Augustin might be worth considering. All quality young players.
