Pitch looking awesome, new club shop seems decent and new scanning boxes on turnstiles being installed. Looks like a fair bit of work still to do before 1st home game but a good step in right direction. New shirt looks nice too You mean new boxes on the OLD turnstiles? Why didn't they get new turnstiles? Why get new ones? I like the idea of keeping parts of the ground traditional, particularly as so many traditions in the sport are eroding.

Beat me to it, was gunna say Nichols would have missed. I so much hope that Nichols proves us all wrong and scores a boat full of goals this season and makes all our posts look stupid. With all this talk of Ellis leaving and Gafney already gone I’m starting to worry a bit.

Having popped into our rather nice new shop on Open Day, I noticed that the Geoff Bradford graphic had "centre forward" spelled "center forward". I emailed Tom Gorringe to point out this Americanism. Now I would have thought by the evening, after a busy Sunday, Tom would be putting his feet up rather than checking emails from pedants like me.
However, massively to his credit, he replied the same evening saying the graphic would be changed next week. Take a bow Mr Gorringe!

Lovely to hear about this type of attention to detail and care from a club employee. Not much "attention to detail" in the first place - shouldn't have had to put it right.

I wonder if the printers pointed it out?

I like the idea of keeping parts of the ground traditional, particularly as so many traditions in the sport are eroding. But the old ones rely on someone hitting a pedal to make them work. I thought the card would open them. So really it's just about not handing a ticket in then

Yeah, one of the things about modern IT and computer stuff is that pretty much everyone/anyone can be the last line in a design/publishing project. Back in the day this always used to be left to people who knew what they were doing (coz it was their specific job). Now computers do 95% of the work, and often, I've noticed, a lot of British computers' spell checkers are still set to the US default. And in any case, grammar checkers, etc, are still largely bullshit.

Have to say, I was impressed with the chap I saw who had a backpack over one arm and pint in the other still slotting the ball home in the inflatable goal. The old magic was still there mate, had really bad cramp afterwards mind.... Though your barefooted attempts were admirable given that the concrete must have been a hundred deegrees

I personally thought it was the disappointing open day I've been to at the Mem. I was unable to get there until 2:00pm and it may as well had finished by then, not the 4:00pm as stated on the website. Every other year, the players have been around until 3:00-3:30 ish, so it was disappointing that they had all gone by the time we arrived (I appreciate they all fly to Holland today, but the club could have said they will be leaving earlier for this reason). All there really was is the new club shop which we could have gone to at any time. By 3:00pm stewards started directing us towards the gates, so we left.
I'll be truly amazed if the new stands, works to bars and new turnstiles etc have been completed in time for our first home game of the season too.

I assume stands for the Open etc arrive the week before the golf starrs, so ther's still plenty of time, although this is Rovers.....
