Oh, Yes please, it means she can add up. "Von der Leyen, 60, who speaks fluent English and French and studied at the London School of Economics" Women to head top EU institutions for first time flip.it/mH-gpTShe is good. A Mother of seven kids who also worked as a Doctor for many years, only going into politics in her early forties. I always thought she would be the natural successor to Merkel, but for some reason she has been side-lined. She was very good as the Home Affairs Minister, but her time at Defence has been mired in controversy. Got to say that studying at the LSE is not something to shout about.

Blimey, I never expected you to endorse her!! Given your location you know far more about her than me, so good to hear. Perhaps her education at the LSE was a formative experience? 😉

She had a life before politics, which many other politicians have never had.

The worrying point though is that she made a complete hash of the Defence job. The dire state of German ships, tanks and personal weapons cannot be blamed on her, as those decisions were taken before she got the job, but her attempt at making the German military into a 'normal job' have been disastrous. She tried to turn the military into a "9 to 5" job, with overtime being paid. The result is German troops leaving NATO exercises early because they had reached their overtime limits. Anyone who has served in the British military would be laughing at this, as if we had been paid for every hour we'd worked we'd all be millionaires ! She is an arch Federalist and is committed to the European Superstate idea. Good luck to here as she'll have to achieve her aims without the UK While we're on the subject, Lagarde as Head of the ECB? She is a convicted fraudster. How on earth can anyone think she is the right person for the job? It beggars belief.

Nothing quite like drawing a parallel between 'peasantry rising up against feudal barons' and the EU providing a rule on how wide the mesh should be on fishing nets.
What a demented twat Anne Widdecombe is.

What a demented twat Anne Widdecombe is. I mean I am no fishing expert, but I am sure it has been documented about how much catch is chucked back in the sea because it is caught and is too small. I can only assume that is partly the reason for the size increase.
But yeah go Ann, tell um what for. It's a wonder you bothered to turn up just to rant and rave.
I wonder if she cast her vote for the new president

I'm beginning to change my mind on brexit. It's not fair that with their trade deal with Japan our friends on continental Europe will be able to buy their whale meat cheaper. Another benefit of membership we'll lose out on.

Why is it that apart from one or two reasonable debaters, the Leave camp is packed to the rafters with loonies and comedy characters, who no-one in their right mind would trust to run a whelk stall, let alone the biggest event this country has faced for 50 years?
Seriously, why is that? Even the most logical and reasonable Brexiteers must privately admit to themselves that their fellow travellers are just an embarrassment.
