Only 5'9". I wouldn't say he's your typical No.9. He's certainly not going to be winning too many headers against 6'+ centre backs. For someone who is 23 - 24 before Christmas - he hasn't played much. Very little experience when you compare him to others players his age. 74 Appearances in all competitons - including Cardiff youth - and 18 goals, so not quite 1 in 4. However, almost all his experience has been at a lower level. Good record in the Conference with Torquay but only average in L2 with Newport. It would be a gamble as he's relatively untried in L1. I’ve seen him listed at 5’11. Reading your post doesn’t fill me with confidence. Shopping in the bargain basement for sure, unless this is followed by an experienced number 9 to replace Ellis.

ffs.. Not exactly what we are hoping for It’s a signing that has desperate and panic written all over it. I can’t see this lad is anything like DC’s number one choice.

It seems clear to me that the board aren't willing to back the manager with the funds to replace Ellis with a striker of the required quality, even on a loan deal with wages. Very disappointing when you consider what we have reportedly brought in for Ellis and Gaffney.

Looks like a panic buy to me.
Speaking as someone who has never seen him play all we can look at are the stats.
Height according to Google 1.8m (5'9"). Not really a No.9.
Experience: L1 - Colchester P23, G4 (1 in 5.8) L2 - Newport P23, G7 (1 in 3.3) Conference - Torquay P8, G6 (1 in 1.3)
His goal record is excellent in non league, average in L2 and poor in L1. Very few appearances for someone his age.
I'm guessing DC has reached the bottom of his list.

Seems like he is rated by the CCFC fans.

Seems like he is rated by the CCFC fans. Must have really pulled up some trees in his 374 minutes of first team football for them.

Started in the championship, so must have something about him. Had a few injury problems already by the looks of it though. 6 goals in 8 games, not a bad return in a struggling Torquay side. This signing could go either way!

Seems like he is rated by the CCFC fans. Some of them reckon he's good enough to go on loan in The Championship. I guess there's no recognition better than fans of his own club. Not one of them had a bad word for him, really.

I wont surprised if we sign him and still try to get another 2 strikers. DC likes to have 4/5 strikers, which I guess is to cover for injuries. I also guess he is running out of patience with Nichols, going by some comments from those who spoke to DC at the BBC forum.

Know much about this one, Pirate? I'm just searching through my emails trying to find the one where I tipped the club off about him as a 17-year-old playing for Connahs Quay Nomads in the Welsh Pŕem. Seriously. Edit: Found it! From 12/12/2012 Have the club ever gone for your tip offs? Sounds like you do a lot of work for them. Do you pass on your tip offs to other clubs too? Genuinely interested.

I do not know enough about Rhys so have no idea if he will be a success or not. However so far the it appears we are unwilling to spend money on a good striker so an immediate attitude change at senior level within the club is needed. Cole is available for a permanent deal (I understand he is not available for loan) I suggest the club stops pussyfooting around and tomorrow go back to Wigan make him our fourth signing and a permanent one at that. Prices to watch the Rovers have gone up, the last thing season ticket holders need to hear is a senior member of staff sitting in front of a camera whinging about how tough the market is, a good player is available go out and get him.

I don't think Rovers have gone for any of them, or the players haven't signed for the club if we were in for them. I think Dave Penney and Martin Foyle would have moved for 2 or 3 suggestions and wanted to meet me for a chat, but they were sacked a few days later and that was that! I've done bits and pieces for a non-league club years ago.

Do you get any replies/feedback from the club? Basically, do they acknowledge your help?
Have any of your suggestions gone on to better things that you wished the club acted on your tip off?

I didn't used to even get a reply, but then started to pass on tip offs to Keith Brookman and he would always get back to me with a thanks and passed the messages on. Suggestions that have gone on to better things? Too many to mention! Charlie Austin (Poole), Jamie Vardy (Halifax), Sean Raggett (Sittingbourne loan), David Accam (Evesham), Conor Washington (St Ives Town), Marvin Johnson (Romulus), Duncan Watmore (Altrincham), Lee Tomlin (Rushden), Erhun Oztumer (Dulwich), Albert Adomah (Harrow), Aden Flint (Alfreton) etc

If he's the 2nd number 9 not the main one then I will be ok with it. If he's Ellis's replacement though then massive disappointment.
It's great going into a season full of hope and expectation...

If this lad comes in surely we have to be trying sign Devante Cole, Doige or another on the long list.
