Massive punt that one if true. Zero experience at any level. Not saying it won't work out but very risky given he's just 18 and has just 4 substitute appearances to his name. Sometimes difficult for players that young to mix it with a 28 year old 6ft+ physical centre back. Ellis only got a lot better at that side of his game in the last couple of years (22+). Young kids are always a risk to just chuck in. But sometimes like Jermain Defoe going back nearly 20 years for Bournemouth, and Tammy Abraham at the s*it a couple of season ago they can be incredible.

Agree gastafari, I reckon we sometimes overthink the loan/age stuff. Play the youngsters, if you have a good playing system and play to their strengths and we do have a strong midfield which should provide chances for whoever we play. Last year DC tried to be too clever with Telford by not playing him when he seemed the best option. I remember being at Stoke away with Bournemouth in 2002(?) when Defoe made his debut and scored. Lots of AFCB fans moaning before the match about who is he. They soon knew! UTG!

Going back a bit I think Brighton would also agree taking a young loan player called Zamore, who couldn't get into our forward line......

Would be great to get Tyrese if only for half a season but I suspect Stoke will not be interested - we shall see. We seem hell bent on not spending anything like the money we received for BB RG and EH. Wigan were not interested in loaning Cole to us but were prepared to sell him, this (quality. costs) is a reality not being grasped at the highest levels in our club. The clubs whole approach to striker dealings is completely wrong.

If Darrell isn't happy with the budget he has got then perhaps he should come out in the open and let us know WHO he has attempted to get. I'm really not completely sure if the fault is with the owners or DC;s ability to get players in.

Fairly certain there is nothing in DCs job description that says he has to make stevek192 completely sure of anything!

Our club has become a laughing stock and one thing's for sure it has not been caused by the fan base. Deadline looming and no number nines at the club. Worrying times and it would appear our owners in spite of appointing a CEO and numerous other none playing staff are it would seem, to not be prepared to spend money where it is needed. I await to eat humble pie if this changes in the next day or so. UTG!

Do you really think people are laughing at us because we've lost our first game of the season and are lacking a striker? As if there isn't loads of clubs in the same situation every year.

Is this true or is it legend? If it’s legend then we should leave it and perhaps not use it as another way to blame the owners. Something has obviously happened over the training ground, or rather not happened, but we don’t know do we and I doubt if we will. Communication isn’t the best is it and the only thing about the non communication at the moment is they have nothing to communicate about have they? UTG!

Totally agree with you! I’ve not seen anyone laughing that much, in the last few days. Please can someone tell me where it’s happening, everyone’s a little serious, but no laughing

Not sure it is even that, certainly first I heard of it. Hamer said they were visiting Fleetwood to see what £7m (?) would buy. The Category 2 status was only a longer term aspiration, and is largely staffing ratios although some additional facilities will be needed. £2m was the rumoured price for the downgrade/Phase 1 initial build. Still, maybe we will learn more on Saturday. Maybe.

I presume the “laughing stock” is from OTIB where they are probably laughing at us atm, but I don’t even know that. Who cares what they say anyway. I doubt we are a laughing stock with the fans of Oxford, Plymouth, Fleetwood or any other team that lost on Saturday and those esp who have higher hopes than us this season and are meant to have done excellent business. The truth is we are a bit short of strikers at the moment, no probably very short, but that will be resolved. Although whether that will placate everyone on here is another matter. An interesting comparison at the moment is the PL. With all their resources these clubs leave it to the last moment to sell and buy and teams like Chelsea with Courtois and Hazzard and their replacements leave it so late. It really isn’t just us. UTG!

Mate I actually cannot believe that, I was going to write exactly the same thing literally word for word! Complete with 'tap-in' jibe for all the OTIB lurkers! Thats scared me! Are we related? You probably would be in some way if you were city posters on OTIB (and not accusing you of that by the way!).

I'm really not completely sure if the fault is with the owners or DC;s ability to get players in. Pretty sure he already told us he asked about doidge and stockley but the price was too high. Thats pretty open is it not? Think it was exeter post match interview.

If the £2 million was the original cost that has now risen to £6 million according to Steve Hamers email to me last week, hence the reason for the delay.
