Perhaps Telford did not like the splinters anymore than Gaffers. Perhaps DC realised too late he was available and only once he signed Reilly Or maybe he didn't rate him. Remind me where Telford has gone?? Don't think it was anything to do with whether DC rated him or not - the difference was he paid £300k+ for a player that he was hoping would come good and maybe persevered with for too long. We now have three (maybe four) players who will be playing 'off the shoulder' but only one will get nod. DT was awarded a new contract and not released by Stoke so they must see something in him.

I also am not over impressed with our transfer dealings with regard to strikers. Of the four strikers we have:- 1) The guy from Scotland is potentially very good has quick acceleration and a one touch finish, but we need to play the right kind of ball to get him in. 2) The only striker we have over six feet is useful could get goals for us but I would not regard him as top notch. 3)The striker we had last season has not been a success and in my opinion should not be first choice to start in this seasons games 4) An unknown striker with no real track record. I feel the club has not done particularly well with most of the strikers signed since it has returned to league 1 Where we finish in the division will depend to a large extent on what our current strikers do if they are not a success then a relegation struggle is on the cards Not that straightforward, we have a midfield that is capable of 15-20 goals between them all, plus a defence to keep opposition's goal tally down, so, yes the strikers can add to the team's success by being successful themselves but it doesn't automarically follow that we will be in a relegation battle if they don't set the world on fire

We now potentially have 2 strikers plus the midfield to score the goals but attack starts in defence and we really need to close the barn door at the back as well after recent couple of performances we are likely to leak goals all season unless something is done to batten down

Then released him so he could join Bury on a free, perhaps DC's plan to get him on a free back fired if Stoke sussed out what his plan was, as it seems odd offering him a contract but not then insisting on a fee. It really is now do or die for Nichols, as if he can't score now with Bennett, Rodman and Payne alongside him in attack I doubt he'll ever score at this level.

Assuming Parts, THD & Rollin are all fit by September we have enough defenders plus a defence coach, they just need to collectively get their act together. Plus hopefully Upson will bring a bit more bite to midfield.

Back on to the subject of the thread, was just looking at comments on the Falkirk forum about him and they seem to really rate him, always a good sign when that happens. Apparently he can be a really tricky customer and has pace and power in abundance. In that case he maybe a good strike partner for Payne? I look forward to seeing in action.

Its how I feel about the transter market who the F##k are the people we signed. We surely could do better lets spend some money hey, as its not going anywhere else in the club, is it?
Well, we're a selling club, and operating at a loss. I'm just pleased that some of the money got reinvested. And that AF is the bottom line. We’re Rovers so I’m pleased some got invested as well. UTG!

Also I believe Jakubiak knows Mensah from their time at Watford and Holmes-Dennis who he was on loan with at Oxford. Should help him settle in quicker.

Could and should have invested more if you ask me. Quite agree with you, we are only as good as our team and it seems the management and owners are happy with not spending money. Been a Pirate since early sixties unlike some on here tell me I am a sh**. I have opinions as well if they do not agree that's their problem.
There it is,the 5th different date dickiedamsell has alleged his love affair with the gas began.I ain't a ted though honest guv lmfao!!

I give up on the manager, chairman and owners what a shambles this transfer market. Sold players but refused to sign players of same quality. Who the F##k is payne, a no one, desperate signing and the other one from Watford not worth a mention Management and owners you keep looking after yourselves. I used to have respect for the manager but that's now gone. Good luck to you Gas but I am finished with you now, please send them back to Jorden were they belong and tell them to bury there heads in the sand as always. The Anchors.

Amused by some negative comments about our transfer dealings in this window. THD will be a good signing once fit and ready to go. Upson will strengthen our defensive midfield. Rodman will strengthen our attacking midfield. Matthews got a hell of a lot of potential and will be a big player for us. Reilly is an unknown for me but looked good vs Exeter and sounded good vs Peterborough. Jakubiak will want to prove himself and will be hungry to prove to Watford he is ready. Payne scored as many goals as Harrison last season and was in the side that got Shrewsbury to 3rd (top 2 most of the season) and to the play off final. And bare in mind he was on the bench for half the season! How anyone can moan about this to length of saying they wont go anymore is pathetic. All well and good but we've sold EH and RG for the best part of a million, released Sweeney, Bola, Telford, Moore and Brown, so have spent similar buget wise on the squad as DC spent last summer but the owners have banked Harrison transfer fee, how is that evolution? How much have we actually spent? (Transfer fee's, signing on fee's and agent fee's)
How much have we actually received? (Example, Ipswich may have not paid all up front as could be installments)
I don't think anyone on this board actually know the full details.
There are other costs too that we have had to make. Trip to Holland, new bars, new club shop, yet another new pitch and that costed alone £300k 'apparently'. Therefore, how can anyone say "the owners have banked the Harrison money"? Lets see where we are come the end of the season to see about evolution. If we can sell Harrison for x amount and buy Payne as his replacement for a small amount of the Harrison money and Payne is a success then well done us as we got better and got money left over too.

A guess a loan is better than nothing and he may possibly be a little better than Telford but I don't think you'll see the shed-load of goals from this lad that some are expecting. Don't think we done that well on the striker front to be honest. Time will tell if they are any good, but i'm happy to give them a try and hope for the best.

If you've been one that long why are you seemingly getting so wound up, I'm starting to think Wael has been taking advice from NH & BB, as we now seem in exactly the same position as we've been for decades. Selling our best players and then getting cheap ones in as replacements, whilst spending the bare minimum on the ground. It's mystifying why we didn't sign Telford, who seem to have real potential, but are taking a chance on another loan player. Both parties have to want it........... Telford wanted to stay closer to home i believe

A good addition. Looks like a Fox in the box and will provide competition for Nicholls and Reilly. Good scoring record for Falkirk in the Scottish Championship since January and experience with Wycombe amongst others in L2. Watford pedigree is strong. I expect most of us on here could do that
