We actually have a few people on here that watch games.
I thought we brought Craig in to organise the defence and do some coaching.
We already had 1 short slow centre back, now we have 2. I don't think they won 1 ball in the air at Peterborough.

Yep,you can hear the opposition coaches team talk can't you.........get those high balls into the box ,their c/h are fine on the deck but dont get off the ground when it comes to high balls into the box, as corporal Jones would say 'they dont like it up or over em!

Too late now but I would have put Craig at l.b till newbies fit. Sold Lockyer, or just got rid off and got 2 new center backs in. Our defence was sh**e last year and I don’t think we have added or improved in that area this season. Another -gd? I hope not. Spot on

Our general defending has been a lot better since Craig came to the club and we have restricted the number of opportunities created by the opposition but we are still prone to "slack moments of concentration lapses". Broadbent is not the answer and we have nobody at the club that is better than the Craig/Lockyer combination. The problem is that most teams in this division will swing crosses in to good headers of the ball and we know that when they do there will be one or two at least that will cause problems due to our lack of height. I'm not one to criticize DC but if Craig and Lockyer are our best 2 CBs then he has really dropped the ball.

I’m not impressed with Craig, he just can’t jump, but all this criticism of Locks, if he was as bad as people make out, would he international call ups?

I still think we could do with another centre back option and 6ft 3in Matt Mills and 6ft 4in Greg Haford are without clubs. If their wages were realistic they could be good options.
Remie Streete is an interesting one. The 6ft 2½in free agent is clear of injury now and if we could get him match fit he could potentially be one of the best centre backs in the league.
Further afield there are options like 27-year-old 6ft 1in former Belgium U21 international Koen Weuts who is on a free. He can also play as a left back or defensive midfielder.
23-year-old 6ft 2in free agent former Germany U16, U19 and U20 player Moritz Sprenger would also be worth considering on trial if he was interested.

Craig has class and we looked a lot better when he arrived however |I am sure he would be used to playing alongside a tall centre half. If we got a tall centre half in then it would be Lockyer who I would leave out. All this criticism of our new strikers is ridiculous as comments are being made based on 3-4 appearances or less! There are times when we are no better than City supporters. We just don't know how they are going to gel or which partnership will start. Personally I would have Nichols as fourth choice at the moment and probably start with Payne and Reilly. I'm actually excited at the thought of tomorrows game with all the new players. I even think we may have better attacking options than last season! Its the defence I am worried about!!

Am I the only one who thinks we're lacking a left full back? We have Holmes-Dennis, yes - but he's unfit and people have been saying he could be unfit for some months to come yet. We have James Clarke - yes, but his position, despite being able to play across the back four, is not a left back! We need a LB IMO And, am I the only one that thinks we are lacking 2 centre backs that can actually clear a cross from our penalty area? Our wonderful manager,in who we all trust, has consistently picked players that cannot do this basic job.We are still desperate for a Cian Bolger type number 5. We have 4 left full backs in the squad. Holmes Dennis, Kelly, J Clarke and Craig. Craig is a very good experienced full back at this level and the level above. For Millwall as I understand it he was an emergency centre half and at least as far as the Rovers are concerned it looks like it IMO. His first game at Wimbledon the winning goal was where their striker out jumped Craig, which was not hard to do as his feet never left the ground. Exactly the same happened in the next home game. Both Lockyer and Craig are short for centre halves, Lockyer jumps well for his height but his height is against him, Craig never seems to jump whatever his height IMO. Both are very good defenders on the ground. IMO if Lockyer was to get a game at the higher level he would revert to right full back which was his original position. Broadbent has now had a full season as a professional at utgthis level and seems to me to be the best CH moving forward we have had in a long time, since Tilson? I have high hopes he is now to come good and Rollin has had a good season lat year with Swindle so he might be the new kid on the block. UTG

UTG Didn't Craig go on to play around 20 games last season, so perhaps he learnt from his mistakes in the first two games? You say TB seems to be the best CB moving forward but he never actually performs to that level on the pitch, and he had a compete shocker V Exeter. Whilst TB maybe stronger in the air he's not as good on the ground as TC. As far as Locks reverting to RB I think he's played virtually all his football, even from youth level, at CB, he only played RB when he broke into the first team. Most FB's like to get forward and cross the ball and that's not something Locks particularly strong at doing.

We've brought in a defensive coach so I guess DC's given up the idea of Craig becoming player/ coach if there ever was such an idea behind this signing.

Craig was an occasional left back at Millwall and played multiple games at centre back for various clubs with distinction his arrival last season tightened up the defence considerably whereas Broadbent is inexperienced and mistake prone. A lot of the problem is the failure to prevent crosses coming in in the first place

A lot of the problem is the failure to prevent crosses coming in in the first place Is that really true though as how many times have Brown and Leads put crosses into the opposition's box in the past which have come to nothing, 2 or 3 times each in both halfs in some games? P'boro hardly had any chances on Saturday but still scored 2 goals from crosses into our box.
