well the football club isn't worth anything Correct but if somebody was willing to take on the club and rent the stadium from Dwane Sports it could happen. Dwane would stop making huge losses and they could service their debt from the rent and still own a valuable asset. The question would then be could new owners run the football club sustainably? It’s happened elsewhere so I wouldn’t dismiss it as a possibility. What? Be like we were at Eastville renting an increasingly dilapidated ground from disinterested landlords? Er No thanks!

UWE are going to buy Rovers. You heard it here first. They still build the stadium, get the rent, get the Mem site and all the income the club generates for £15M and we use their new training ground. Jobs a good un. You're welcome. Would be interesting situation if the university owned us. Students would effectively be paying the players wages. Any idea how much UWE make per year from student fees? Having had a lot to do with UWE (used to be a student there myself) I know they have approx 30,000 students on their books in total. Most full time £9000 a year, some part time £4,500 and a number of Masters courses ranging from about £6000-9500. They spent £350million on new buildings in the time I was there. They’d love any excuse to make more money from a stadium they’ve wanted for years but not had enough interest (and too much opposition) from people in the surrounding area. Buying Rovers satisfies a number of problems for them, and a whole host of them for us. Although, saying that, I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them.

I never said that it was my choice but a possibility if the owners couldn’t find a buyer for the mounting debt.

That's like selling your house and moving into rented accommodation just because you can't afford the mortgage payments. It's like an introspective version of robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Come on guys, UWE aren’t buying us out. Can you not remember what happened to Team Bath about 10 years ago? Had to disband due to their financial arrangements with the university of Bath.
UWE will be partially funded by the government(I don’t know exact figures). And as in the case of Team Bath, the university were not allowed to fund the team as it would create a direct link between government funds and a football club.

We've had some implausible theories over the last couple of decades but this one's right up there with Rod Hull and Emu taking over the club.

Yes Nobby, they are going to form a top table with Mr Blobby and Lord Archer of Weston Super Mare. I think they've talked Hamer into taking the minutes and serving the tea for them as well.

If new owners rent the stadium from Dwayne Sports how do they make a; enough money to pay the rent b; enough money to pay the staff c; any money Not poo-pooing the idea completely, just can't understand how it could be feasible?

I wonder if one could work around that. For instance, the students union at UWE is essentially a charity. To my knowledge it benefits from funds from the university but not directly from government.
Could also involve the Al Qadi’s as potential majority stakeholders, some sort of 51% deal.
If there was a work-around it would certainly be useful for all parties, so I can imagine it would still interest the powers that be enough to explore the potential of it

For clarity, when I asserted that UWE were buying us, I was just making sh** up. The amazing thing is, the fanbase are so desperate for news that anything mentioned gets scrutinized. If only the AQ's had a plan eh?
