www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2018/august/29.8.18-joe-martin/The club is pleased to announce the arrival of defender Joe Martin from Stevenage on loan until January. A left-back by trade who is also capable of playing in midfield, Joe has an abundance of Football League experience, with over 300 senior appearances to his name. The 29-year old was a regular feature for Stevenage last season, making 45 appearances in all competitions, in his only season with the club following his move from Millwall. Joe was with then-League One Millwall for two seasons, playing 23 league games in the campaign in which they gained promotion to the Championship. After spending his youth career with both West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur, Joe made his senior bow with Championship Blackpool against Watford in 2008 after signing with the Seasiders on loan. In July that year, he made his move to Bloomfield Road permanent, staying there for two seasons before moving on to Gillingham in June 2010. Joe's time with the Gills was his longest with any one club, remaining there for five seasons and helping them gain promotion to League One in 2013; his biggest highlight with the Kentish club. Upon his arrival, Manager Darrell Clarke said, "We've been lacking a bit of cover at left-back, with Tareiq [Holmes-Dennis] taking a little while longer to make his debut than we had hoped. "Joe [Martin] offers us experience in that position and we're pleased to have him at the club until the New Year."

So we've signed a loan left back to cover for another loan left back?
It's like a crap version of Inception.
At least we have signed someone but it really does make you wonder what DC was smoking when he decided to sign that lad from Huddersfield.

That's the spirit, let's lambast him before he's even had a training session. Good one.

Knickers firmly twisted, again.

I can't see his name in any of Stevenage's matchday squads this season? Has he played?

Better change them then, you might feel uncomfortable otherwise.

Some quotes from Millwall fans when he left for Stevenage last year:
"Good luck to him. Never let us down and gave 100%"
"I agree. Not had bad as people made him out to be in my opinion."
"Nope, thought he was solid enough and a good dead ball taker."
"Scored a few good goals as well."
"He was a lot better than plenty we've had previously - good luck to him in his future career (apart from when he plays against us obviously)"
