I think DCs signings have overall been good because we wouldn’t have had the success we’ve had if they weren’t but for me the jury is still out on Bennett. With the ball at his feet he looks quality and his movement is good but if you actually watch what he does with the ball the end product is usually poor. An exciting player but also a very frustrating player which to be fair is what Pompey saw too. If we can improve his end product we’d have a real top player on our hands because his body can do it but his vision to do it is lacking that little bit of quality needed to be a top league 1 player. Whilst I agree, I can't see any argument against him being a good signing. We lost a massive player in Bodin for £400k. Bennett came in on a free and his impact was that good that he pretty much directly replaced Bodin's impact.

How many more of DCs signings will prove either Not good enough or not given a chance? Steve we paid a decent fee for him to so dont see why we send him for a whole season. Slocombe wont be back and I fear Bernie the same. It sounds like the budget was squeezed but also have we paid higher salaries for our new recruits?

Mensah's been a complete flop, as I've said before virtually all our players drop down a level (or retire) when they leave us, Harrison and Brown being the two exceptions. We're really a Div 2 squad trying to survive in Div 1, bar Leads, Locks and Bennett, possibly Payne, you could see all this season's squad having to drop down a division to get a contract next summer. I'm not really sure whether that's down to poor recruitment or a limited budget but if it is 16th or 17th then surely we should be reasonably competitive if 7 or 8 teams have a lower budget?

Twatty Failure and Bodin both went up a level too. Then you could also make an argument that the whole squad went up 2 levels themselves. We've started taking a chance on players like Mensah and Mayo etc. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. You say all our players drop down after leaving (which isnt true anyway) but is it dropping down or just returning to where most of our squad came from?

Whilst he’s been alright he isn’t anywhere near the player Billy was for us, yet.

Sorry can't agree re Leadbetter - regardless of the fact he's returning from long term injury - his end product remains the same and his attitude in the 2nd half v Southend was unforgivable in my mind. Someone who isn't interested.

It's socking really we've basically got a squad of Div 2 players, when this is now our 3rd season in Div 1. As far as Bennett he looks the part but like Leads there's no real end product. Although perhaps down to the fact our present 1st choice strikers seem to have forgotten they are supposed to score goals.

What’s happening with Rollin anyone know? Thought he might go out on loan. I think he's still recovering from an injury or a post-season op.

Someone who isn't interested. I wasn't at that match but seems clear DL been struggling for quite some time. Never kicked on after a great start. Maybe found his peak? Hope not. With a bit of coaching you would have expected him to be of a certain mould by now - a fast wing back maybe? Or converted to a winger? A good crosser? A man beater? TBH he's not improved his game at all and has no special skills - a real shame because he had so much potential.

Bennett has only been with us since Jan and he has scored 3 goals in that time which is something I hope he can build on.....starting today hopefully.

I think in the lower leagues he knew a lot of players like Taylor , Sinclair etc but at this level he is out of his depth, for me the last decent player he signed was sercombe who was 14 months ago Bennett not decent? No not great for me sorry, certainly not on bodins level. In fact couldn’t lace his boots

You can't expect to sign Bodin's on a free everytime so he did well considering. We were 14th when Bodin left and 13th at the end of the season. Bennett certainly played his part in that.
