Btw - can anyone who has Twitter tweet Twentyman to find out if he asked Wael on radio or Wael requested to go on? His appearance came about via his response to the Tweets below - GT had been trying to get him on for ages, so it relied on Wael giving the green light, when it suited his purposes. @the_Hatch85 Aug 3 @geoff20man Hi Geoff, don’t suppose @waelalqadi Hamer or Starnes are lined up for interview on Saturday? #UTG @geoff20man Not this Saturday Tommy but hopefully very soon. Keep your eyes peeled. Best. @waelalqadi
Replying to @geoff20man
Waiting for joint having a gas with gaffa !!!

Yeah, I would like to think that Wael stuck by his guns and refused the UWE deal coz it genuinely wasn't good enough, and then by playing the long game managed to get a good enough deal. Of course, everyone criticising it on the side, disparaging him on social media, demanding action on a stadium, insulting the family, criticising the negotiations without even knowing what they were, and generally just whining like children, would have weakened his hand a bit. Do you also believe that had UWE offered the All Qadis acceptable terms last summer that they had the £40m-£50m needed to build the stadium available to spend and were willing to do so? Otherwise it might be argued that the terms being unacceptable would have been quite a relief for them. Well, if you look what I actually said, I haven't said I believe anything. But your second bit, istm, is a pointless differentiation, because the more acceptable the terms, the more potential for revenue, the more money should be available.

A better investment opportunity, is likely to attract better/more investment then a poor one

Well if the money "should" be available then it's as good as built. What great news.

These two versions of the story show Wael in two completely different ways.
If the IoM consortium version, with Wael clinging on to a place on the new board but UWE not wanting him, is true, it shows that his time here was pretty much a failure and he will not be remembered kindly in years to come.
If on the other hand, the Southampton construction story is true, it shows that against the odds Wael has managed to come up with the investment many of us never believed he would, and he'll go down in history as a hero.
I wonder which it is?
Maybe a third version will emerge.

In October 2018 we will be 'remembering' 60 years ago ( North stand 1958) the last time we constructed a stand. This is a record in all 5 divisions and a small celebration will be held in the space of the proposed family stand. North stand October 1958 - October 2018 ( 60 years ) . We built a stand at Trewton

Somehow I really doubt they did that because they couldn't bear to see the Gas go under. There has to have been some sort of financial/political opportunity in it for them (not necessarily the stadium) that has failed to materialise and now they are trying to punt us on without taking a loss.

Because they banked on UWE happening. When that all fell apart, so did they. I think the AQs wanted to OWN the UWE site. Correct. They also wanted to buy an extra piece of land for a superstore and a hotel. The things they didn't like was the fact that UWE under the Higgs agreement would take all the money from the car park and a share of the food and drink outlets, Add to this we had to incorporate some teaching rooms and a gym which students could use and a jogging track. It actually benefitted them more than us. That is why it fell through, because Wael wanted all that to be ours, and I agree, the stadium has to make money for us, not UWE and that is why you need to buy the land

Last night on one of the Facebook groups it said (Mike Jay) Rovers were sold yesterday, although the negotiations have been going on for a while. We have been sold a people in Southampton, who own a construction company

I know who the new owner is, don't want to spread any rumours but let's just say the deal is 'watertight' 👀 You’re Talking Loosely?
