10 league games in, so here are the shape of the ratings so far this season. Threads from previous years are here: 17/18 16/17 15/16 14/15PlayersHere are the players listed by their average rating over the first ten games. Some players such as Partington and Mensah have played very few minutes so their average is a bit misleading compared to others. The Average Difference shows the player compared to the starting XI average for each match they play. You can see the effect this has by looking at Kelly's rating. His overall average is good, but because he has played in three games that had a high team rating anyway it sort of inflates his score. By looking at Average Difference you can see that he has been a bit below the rest of the team within those games. Player | Rank | Rating | Average Difference | Bonham | 1 | 7.79 | +1.20 | Sinclair | 2 | 7.32 | +0.23 | Partington | 3 | 6.83 | Not enough minutes | O. Thanks a lot for that, I love these. So based on that our best team is probably:
Bonham Partington J.Clarke Lockyer Craig/Kelly Matthews O.Clarke Sinclair Sercombe Payne Reilly
Shows how short we are up front when those are our best 2 strikers with both of them well down the list and below the average ratings.

A bit late, but Southend was the 30th game of the season, so time again to take a look at the Player Ratings for this season. This does include Darrell's last game in charge against Doncaster, but otherwise is a reflection of Coughlan's time in charge. PlayersWorth noting that both Ogogo and Clarke-Harris only have one game to go off at this point. That highlights Sercombe to me, I rate him as our best player at his best but far down the list. Also Nichols is probably unfairly low down, I actually think he's had a decent season but yet again the lack of goals play a big part in that.

He is also a striker at the end of the day & is being played in a strikers position. If Bonham scored 3 goals from set pieces but let is 4 absolute howlers, would we give him 10/10?

No, but Nichols does have the most assists for us. He's a good footballer and despite his poor goal record, I have seen a definite improvement on last season.

I agree, but I remember some very poor performances from starting/coming on from the bench, which may explain why. I like him at the moment, but he is one of those players (like on Saturday) that when he goes missing, he really is nowhere to be seen

The ball was just being lumped up to him and Reilly.

Whilst it might not be his fault, he could hardly get an 8/10

Thanks to IVFK for all his efforts and time spent on this interesting topic. I for one just watch games and then spend five minutes posting my ratings, hardly time consuming. Thanks once again for willingly giving up your time to produce these statistics which I enjoy digesting, although not up to the standard of a Piglets sausage roll. UTG!

With the season complete, here are the basic summaries of the player ratings threads for this season. Hopefully, I'll have time to dig deeper into the numbers over the summer, but I think I promise that every year. Players

Interesting to see Lockyer fourth in the ratings table - would suggest he’s going to take some replacing for us.

Talking of statistics Rovers ranked 57 in sky sports table, which historically is right on the money and is where we been most of my 60 odd years watching them,Teds forum will be in meltdown when they see there 37th,and not in top 10 with rest of massive clubs!!
