Ken Masters said he was responsible for looking after the 6% Supporters shareholding and it seemed he is not the Supporters representative as I believed used to be the case. Steve Hamer quickly corrected that figure to 7.3%. Was this a mistake from Ken Masters as surely he should know such an important detail.

Good listen, thanks for taking the time to organise and ask the questions Tommy,
not necessarily the answers we wanted to hear in places, but it's good to fully understand the positions, club and owners.

Very interesting, thanks Tommy for representing us fans so well, and thanks to Steve Hamer and Ken Masters for fronting up, can't argue with that at all. It is concerning that Hamer seemed to indicate that the communication on non-football related issues is tricky at least in part because of the delicate balance between keeping the fans happy and the owners happy. This to me strongly suggests that Hamer/Starnes etc have a distinct disconnect with the owners. Are Dwane Sports even going AWOL with the other Board members of the club, as well as us fans? If this is the case I feel almost sorry for Hamer for having to front up to the media/fans when he may know little or nothing what the strategy of the owners is, so he has to effectively make up answers on the hoof. This is what a lot of us have suspected all along, and the blame for this has to be sat squarely at Dwane Sports’ door. If they want to wheel out their Chairman or CEO to speak for them, give them strict information and guidelines on what to say! Clearly there is still some confusion between them all as to whether this “site” that “fell through” was earmarked for the stadium and the training ground together. Again it comes across as amateurish because they can’t come out with consistent information! Still no answers as why the training ground is now "dormant". Why? Why aren't they starting? It's ready to progress, it's all there, they've got the land, they've got many of the existing permissions. Why not start now? Just get it started and get higher quality players in through the door. Attract better standard of youngsters because of our facilities. Why not? It’s completely bizarre and I want them to be pressed on this. If the Colony will be the land for the training ground, just get it bloody going for goodness sake, or front up and tell the truth with reasons that at least are plausible for why they’re holding off. The only reason that seems remotely plausible is that they’re looking to sell up beforehand, but Wael keeps on saying they’re in it for the long haul. It’s just so frustrating.
Lockleaze as a new base for the BRCT sounds great, this is something the club should communicate on and promote. It’s also nice to hear what overall responsibilities Starnes and Hamer have on a day to day basis, although to be honest some of it I didn’t really understand and Hamer seemed to waffle a bit on that. One thing I have to say is that whilst I do feel the owners warrant some criticism like the above, as communication really does have to improve and thanks Tommy for proposing the bi-monthly forums. However the sort of abuse Hamer said they allegedly get, is unacceptable and goes way beyond criticism. There is no need for any fans to get personal and abusive. By all means ask questions and criticise constructively when it is warranted, and this should be taken in good humour by the owners and they should hold their heads up high, front up and defend themselves. Not just go into hiding as they seem to have done so many times since the UWE collapsed. They would be doing themselves a huge favour if they came out and fronted up more often, rather than staying quiet for months on end. Anyway, thanks again Tommy, the work you put into arranging the petition, the meeting, and now editing and posting the interview must have taken a lot of your time, and I for one really appreciate it. This is the shocking state of affairs. When I contacted Hamer several months ago (some of you may remember this) to try to organise a Norwich -style supporters cash injection to build/set up the training ground. Hamer replied to me that the owner didn't want supporters to put money in, he would fund it................the months roll by so frustrating, so depressing. Nothing happening here.

They wont ever build anything for Bristol Rovers on that land because it would show actual commitment

You are a good man Tommy. A shame you had to sit there with those people and listen to waffle followed by more waffle - did you remember why you initially went to have a chat with them ? Ken Masters - spewing out all those crowd stats from 1952 for ffs !!!!!! still doesn't realise what century we're in - oh dear. There are no dynamic people here to take the club forward. Apologies for the negative stuff.

Apologies for the negative stuff. It did sound like Ken Masters was in a time warp but you can’t fault his memory. The one positive thing from that hour of waffle was the link up of the Rovers community trust with the new Lockleaze Sports Centre. Just had a look at the sports centre website & must say what a great facility it looks.

Tommy I admit I haven't signed (laziness/apathy primary factor); however I took part in some of the meetings at the Welly when Mark Cz and Jon-the-stripe (FFFS) were investigating options of assisting the "old" board. The difficulties even then with a BoD that allegedly communicated were manifold and led to the whole thing being put to bed, I wish you well in your attempts to gain traction with this matter. Phil Fingers crossed I can make some headway. I think some basic communication isn't asking too much, but if it was that easy it would have been done already! Tommy, "basic communication" between club and supporters is a good thing, BUT what the fanbase that is BRFC really want to know is Training ground - have you built it ? no ? Why not ? What happens next and when ? Stadium - are we redeveloping The Mem ? yes ! When does it start ? Which stand first ? no ! New stadium being planned ? Where ? land purchased ? As Pirate49 raised a while ago - What is the owners' vision for the club and the expected timeline to realise it ?

I agree. I'm hoping that regular forums can help keep the boards feet to the fire on those issues

I can't get my head round why they insist on running the club as their own personal fiefdom even though they patently don't appaear to have the finance, or are willing to commit the finance, to the training ground... ...although having said that I guess it muddies the waters with regards to the sale of the club. Suspend disbelief and imagine if the fans paid for the training ground build. How would the Al Qadi's factor in the value of the training ground into the asking price of the club when they didn't pay for the build? Could be messy I guess.

Why do you think KM is no longer the Supporters Club Director? ken Masters said in the interview that his job is to look after the 7.3 % shareholding to ensure that, that investment was not lost. I believed he was also the voice of the Supporters to communicate with the board as we witnessed when Brian Seymour-Smith also sat on the Board with Ken Masters as the Fans directors. Ken Masters seems invisible in that communication role.
