Like I said months ago. If these owners really were serious about getting us into a stadium within 5 years we would have seen plans by now.

York Community Stadium is a proposed multi-purpose stadium in Huntington, York, England. It will be owned by City of York Council, and be shared by York City Football Club and York City Knights Rugby League Football Club.
Is that really the sort of evolution that has sustainability for the football club?
Progress yes, evolution of a sorts.
The answer to our problems? No

No I don't think the ownership is the discussion to be fair. I think the point was more about the lack of progress on the stadium front. As G81 points out, if they were serious about delivering a stadium we should have seen plans by now. We haven't. In fact there is no update whatsoever as per Whales last unofficial statement.

"It will be owned by City of York Council" I guess it's easy to build a stadium if the local council pays for it? Plus no doubt they would approve any plans w/o any major issues/delays!!

I have been personally involved in the development of the York Stadium, it is in no way suitable for a club of BRFC position in the sporting pyramid [slightly sarcastic there].
But I get the point of the original post, it is light years away from the Memorial stadium, and possibly light years away from any potential development via our board - possibly?
It is a nice little set up and something for the people of York to be proud of, there is very little to be proud of at the Mem, at this given time - other than the fans.

Not so sure a nice 8,000, or at least 10,000, seat new stadium wouldn't be suitable, at least in the short term, given that we hardly ever get over 8,000 home fans at the Mem anyway!! The way we're heading our ground will be one of the worse in the National Leagues within 5 years let along EFL.

This has had many setbacks and some years behind schedule.York is owned 75% by its chairman, 25% by fans, the fans were supposed to match his money for day to day running in which the fans could not and he stood back a tad

Looks a good stadium and presumably big enough for York City. But I would rather be in League 1 with a crap stadium than NLN after all we are a football club and football is the main business. Thanks for posting Henbury. Always interesting to see what others are doing. And fwiw it must be easier to do business with the council if you are a one- club city or town like York or Bournemouth. UTG!

This is what local councils helping out their football clubs looks like.

I'm not sure our problem is the local council to be honest. I feel like the bigger problem is a bit closer to home unfortunately.

How can that be described as evolution? Local authority builds sports ground and lets them use it - that's just one body making a gift to another, there's no element of evolution in that at all. Theu haven't had to adjust their budget to balance the books to realise financing. They haven't had to employ project managers, architects, lawyers. They haven't had to do anything. This is literally the opposite of what evolution looks like. This is what creationism looks like - a benevolent over-lord bestowing a gift to a subject.
