I think GC is in a really difficult position here, not necessarily regarding jak, but the forward positions, but it could actually play out well for him if we stay up....
Realistically we know he has to get the best out of what he has for the moment as given our current situation I can't see us attracting better than what we have....
Then he has a summer to do things. I think he's proved thus far that it isn't necessary to tinker too much right now....

The thing is I don't know who people are expecting us to sign. It might not be a bad thing if Jak isn't banging them in every week as we may then have a chance of signing him! He's strong and sharp, can finish as we have seen. I've seen enough from a young striker to suggest he is worth a small gamble and would be something to work with. He's by no means the finished article but for us he would be a great signing. But surely we need a striker that scores, this club has had too many of these, since Taylor was sold for peanuts.

Exactly, but according to ggmi, it's not a bad thing that he isn't scoring every week..........

Nichols missed two straight forward chances yesterday playing for the development squad. Probably the worst striker we have ever signed. And I believe he has at least one more year on his contract. Thanks DC

Thanks DC I think if you go back and check the poll you'll find he's the best striker at the club. According to that thread none of the others even look like they have the potential to score.

Got a bit carried away there didn't we?
Can we send him back to free up some room in the budget? It would only allow us to get another youth side loanee in but do we take a chance on getting more goals out of someone else?
It's a shame as he has shown against Oxford and Burton that he can get away from defenders on occasion, just probably doesn't threaten as much as we need right now.

Um, "we" didn't, I was the only one saying we should wait for a few games, not just one where he scored twice..... But I was verbally attacking him for saying this...

Whilst Jak was poor today, I think the bigger problem is a midfield and Michael Kelly smashing every pass past his head for a goal kick

Might be good enough but if we play without any creative midfielders in an important home game then what chance has he got ? Did well on the counter away to oxford but at home we should have started lines if sercombe wasn’t available today and might have given him some service . We do desperately need at least one striker in before feb but also must start either sercombe or lines in every home game.

Good point that, probably still useful against teams with a high line when we are away from home.

Yes probably is and might be useful at home in a game where we play with creativity , get it wide and wip in some low crosses. Doesn’t sound like our line up or focus today gave us that though.

THD has been pretty useful on the wing recently- and Rodman. It's like they turn it off and on like a tap. Especially when it sounds like our tempo was so slow at the start today when we were all over Walsall like a cheap suit in the first 10 minutes. It beggars belief how football teams can be so jekyll and hyde.
