I see Sky Sports reporting that a number of clubs have activated Jayden Stockley’s release clause, hopefully we are one of them.
I expected him to go for big £ but as with the snake potentially he has a small fee set in a his contract that we could’ve activated.
Really hope this is the sort of player we are looking at in Jan.

Sadly I think our chances of getting in a top goalscorer from L2 are slim to nil. Because of the extreme levels of competition in the Championship these days, it's more important than ever for the smaller Championship clubs to try to compete by buying in relatively cheap lower league talent in the hope they can succeed at that level. I can see him going to Preston, Ipswich, Rotherham or Bolton or such like.

The boat has long sailed for this one I am afraid. If we were going to get him then it would have been a while. Better off trying for Jakubiak. I heard Preston were linked with Stockley earlier in the week.

I think we would have bought hm in the summer especially safter his pre season hat-trick against us if we were serious about getting him. Didn't DC say then we couldn't afford him then. After a successful first half to this season surely he's now far beyond our price range

I don't even think we would be able to afford Stockley's release clause. Apparently its around £750k. A lot more than Mr Snakey shamelessly put in his.

Stockley’s release clause is certainly high, but i’m wondering if we may well have gone in for it with the intention of selling a few of our players later in the window? We could maybe recoup 3-400k of that investment?
i’d be more than happy to keep going with Jakubiak if we aren’t in for stockley, though a top League One side with stockley as addition to their side would make them a real tough opposition for us in the next few months if we still have to play them.

Very risky business unless they have already had enquiries I’ve heard that Reilly is attracting attention in League 2 but tbh we brought a load in on frees so any money we make from them would be profit. Could be a way to bring in a sole hallmark striker - though i think it would probably be Jak rather than stockley. I don’t want anyone to think i’m genuinely suggesting us buying stockley will happen, but could be interesting to see where he goes and what business we do now with the recent upturn in form.

Have I woken up on a different planet this morning?!
In what world would we have anywhere near enough money to be in for Stockley?!
It's already been made crystal clear we need to move people out to bring people in, so quite how some people expect us to raise 50k let alone 500k+ is beyond me?!

The teds seem to like strikers who run around a lot and don't score, while at the same time calling their strikers who do score "sh**" and "holding them back". Worth quashing the 'gentleman's agreement' and letting them buy Nichols for £2mill?

Our last signing was the reserve LB from Stevenage. How are we suddenly going to sign a striker for 500k+?

Talk of Stockley coming here is ludicrous, regardless of who we manage to shift out this window.

We definitely couldnt afford Stockley, unless Exeter were willing to accept sausage rolls as currency?

DC said in the last transfer window we could not afford him and we have already been told players will need to leave before anyone can come in. I would suggest lowering expectations in the transfer market.

We will need to work hard it get the surplus players off the books. That might be all we acheive this window. But should leave us some room for a loan or two.
Then possibly use the spare cash to extend any critical contracts.

Matt Jarvis joins Walsall. Interesting signing on paper for a club their size at this level.
