Well that's one gone, GC said he would have liked to keep him. Will that open a place for another loan, hope so.

GC said he would have liked to keep him. Why? I must admit I was surprised he wanted to keep him. Must be because he was on a cheap wage and could cover a few positions. So he thought he was value for money. Plus we don't have loads of experience.

Good, if he doesn’t want to stay and help us fight relegation he can * right off.
A shoo in for a place in my worst Rovers XI.

Yeah, fair to say Cogs gave Joe Martin a bit of a whack in that post-match interview. Ouch!

He’s a covering L2 full back who was never first choice. He had a chance to step up a league and make a go of it.
If he’s not up for a fight then he’s not for us.

Obviously his money isn’t better here as it’s a loan and he’s missing out on appearance money and other bonus he would get from Stevenage, Just hope there’s a loan replacement coming in but just don’t feel anything is going to happen again

A desperation signing as the window slammed shut. I suspectGC said nice things about him staying with his fingers firmly crossed behind his back, knowing that Martin didn't want to fight for his place. was Tariq unwell, injured or just rested?

Personally I'd sooner we sign a left winger than retain Martin.

Good, if he doesn’t want to stay and help us fight relegation he can * right off. A shoo in for a place in my worst Rovers XI. Perhaps not the best of players but he came at a difficult time when no-one was brilliant and he was nowhere near the worst player this season. He was ok but no more but tbh I can run off 30 odd names before he comes close to my worst Rovers XI!! Where were you in the years 2000-2005 and 2011-14? 😉 And come on telling a loan to F off because he didn’t want to stay..... Is it any wonder players might sometimes not want to come to us? It’s enough to say thanks but no thanks and think we’ve dodged a bullet as pirate said, abuse not needed. UTG!

Can't say I am too disappointed by this. With Kelly getting better with every game he plays and THD getting somewhere near back to fitness, he probably wouldn't have even made the bench for me. It frees up his spot in the squad for a proper left winger.

I think he was an indication of DC's muddled recruitment. We were in need of a left sided player he was all he could get. I could see why GC wanted to keep him, because the squad is so unbakanced and there's no guarantee we will find any better in this window.
I can't imagine the January window is going to change the makeup of tbe squad much. I think GC will be muddling through until the summer trying to mould this lot into a team that keeps us up.

Martin was judged before he even played a game on here.
He wasn't as bad as everyone was making out and was fine as a squad player. However, we should be able to get better.
Good luck to him.
