I realise this may sound stupid after scoring one goal, but I thought his goal was excellent last night. He had his back to the goal and spun on a sixpence (5p) to score in the corner. He is good in the air, can beat players on the ground and he is an intelligent passer of the ball. He is strong and can hold onto the ball. For the older posters who can remember John Charles?

Can anybody honestly say he wouldn't win more in the air, even on the ground, than Payne managed to do last night? Problem for TB is although every one was signing his praises last night, inc GC, we probably now won't see him again in the 1st team until the next ELF Trophy tie, although did GC's "get himself noticed" comments refer to other club's noticing him in January?

Tony Craig scored a cracking goal away at Blackpool. How about him and TB up front for the next game?!
I was being sarcastic by the way.

You're reading far too much into GC's comments. The shirt is there to be won and if Broadbent had a good game last night, which according to GC he did, then it means nothing more than he's a possible to start in the back 4.

Next Gareth Taylor watched his debut at centre half at Cambridge away 6 1 defeat, has tidy feet for a big player.

Good Lord, one goal and he's being compared to John Charles.

Good Lord, one goal and he's being compared to John Charles. Virgo upfront was more like Ray Charles

Good Lord, one goal and he's being compared to John Charles. Not comparing him just discussing his potential as it's been done before.

There’s been quite a few strikers who’ve gone to play centre back ,Chris Sutton Dion Dublin etc but mainly after their ‘legs have gone’ Not many have gone the other way . Anyway .... no I wouldn’t play him upfront!

Probably, it just seemed an odd phrase to use rather than "push for a 1st team start" etc

Tom took it very well - very quick turn, thump, goal. Personally I think as a defender he is an excellent player and should always be in the side , he is the sort of gentleman that will cause opponents to think twice before they get into an argument with him.

gave this some thought some time ago, wins a lot in the air, is quite intimidating aka Ellis, good on the ball, and the odd mistake he is prone to at the back would not be so potentially costly at c/f, reckon he could be better in the role than Stefan, worth a try perhaps in development game first?

Prior to last nights TB was high on some posters lists tp be loaned out. I have always rated him and it is often forgotten he is comparatively new to the game and is still learning. I thought he was one of the best players on the pitch last night and unlike some others in the squad he can pass a ball to a team mate. Well done Tom

Would have been interesting to see if Chad Evans had tried to floor or elbow TB!!

Without looking it up I can't remember the non-league team we signed him from, but he was captaining the side as a sometimes attacking left-back (not quite a wing-back). There is some footage on YouTube in which he looks really impressive, with a good turn of speed.

I was being sarcastic by the way. Isn't Lockyer one of our top scorers? We could have a 3 pronged attack!

Well if he was up front we could stop Bonham always kicking it to Rodders on the wing, he'd certainly be good coming back to defend corners and free kicks too. Seriously though i wouldn't be against him being put up front towards the end of a game if we needed some height to attack the crosses we put in, or to get flicks on's like Northampton did last night with their big defender.
