Morning boys - Accrington Saturday to bring us back down to earth - I reckon the Cog will get us a result there to take our minds off a lot of the crap

Man's a winner think we will see prettier football if we achieve 52 points, talks sense loved DC but could not fathom the pep clarkiola approach at the end. Simple instructions to players the man's going to be a good fit at our club. He's won f**k all yet. How about we just calm down and see how we get on. Be fair he's won four games

Because he won 2 promotions before that. Or does that mean f**k all, all of a sudden. Must have got lost amongst all the other massive managerial successes we have had in the past. 🙈 and a relagation History move on and support the next manager ffs Nothing to do with not supporting the new manager. I'm just showing some loyalty and respect for a manager who achieved great things for us. Shame others are so dismissive and fickle.

I think DC did us proud and forever grateful but he strangled himself this season getting twisted about things he had no control over
I think the vast majority of fans were torn about him - divided in our minds between loyalty to the club and loyalty to the man
I've said this before on other threads - he wasn't the chairman , he was paid to get us results and it didn't happen
I never once called for his head but realisation that his stubborn fixation with Nicholls, tinkering and "projects" DID NOT WORK THIS SEASON made anything other than the action taken absolute folly
I shudder to think where we would be now without the ten Xmas points ......
So Coughlan deserves his chance, he gets what we are all about and is unfettered by broken promises and ideas above our level
I think he will restore pride in the shirt and confidence and that can take you a long way .....

It is a bit odd that loads wanted DC to stay here for life, were outraged at the board for sacking him and now he is gone remember him as "Oh, you mean that guy who won 6 in 33?". Nowt so fickle as a football fan.

I agree but I also think the downturn in results coincided with him passing his coaching badges
now is silly as that seems I think he tried to implement a lot of new techniques, formations & stats that he learnt from the courses that were to advanced for the players to follow
since GC has come in by his own admission we've gone "back to basics" with players concentrating on what they are good at rather than trying to do thinks that they are not
As we know from DC's interviews he wouldn't give Jak a run in the side because of the things he wasn't good at instead of the things he was proved to be his Achilles heal !

I really do not see why GC should worry about a Stadium or a training Ground as he is manager of the club and his job is getting the right results on the pitch whether that be the Mem,Shrewsbury, Walsall or wherever we play. Failure to get the ground or a training ground will not get him the sack but poor results will. From memory only I can never remember a previous Manager moaning about a Stadium and that is going back to 1986!! At the end of the day the Manager is paid to get results. The Owners take care of the day to day running of the Football Club. DC has been on dangerous ground all season because if you are going to forever criticise your boss you have to ensure that you are doing your job well. This sounds an awful lot like you want someone with no ambition and is only here for their pay packet, managing the side?

I'll say something again that I've also said previously we achieve on the pitch, the team make the Mem untenable, we start to assault the L1 play offs and automatics then the rest HAS to follow Ambition on the pitch is more critical than having 6000 gas heads rattling about in some soulless vacuum on the outskirts of town ever been to MK Dons ? I have and it isn't for me the season starts here and we have a mountain to climb - nothing like a good relegation battle to focus the mind on what's really important Sod the stadium Sod the training ground Sod the Checkatrade we we should only have one ambition right now and it's a four month process - 52 pts

Coughlan not bothered about a new training ground or stadium and is seemingly happy enough the way things are. DC gave his blessing and put his name forward to the board Coughlan- "Mischief makers on the TV saying Rovers were going to interview other candidates (Ben Garner) and I don't know if that was to hurry me up or what or to push me, I don't know" (Contract signed shortly after) Brentford have the option to recall Bonham this month, But Coughlan hopes that won't be the case. Had a meeting today regarding transfers and discussed alternatives if he does go back. Maybe he's not bothered about a new stadium but I am. Appointing GC in my opinion was simply a cheap option and one this board were always going to do. Without new blood in the January window I think we will probably end up in the bottom 4. Yes we've had a couple of wins but after the new manager syndrome wears off I think we'll be back to square one. Hopefully i'm wrong but I don't think I am. May have been a cheap option, no one knows that, but it was the right option. How about being a bit more positive?

Although I guess GC might not be that concerned as if he's a successful manager as he can always move on to a bigger club, we can't just change the team we support. I was a bit surprised Luton apparently already have a "state of the art" training complex, so they're another club who could be leaving us behind if they get pp for their new stadium next week & actually build it.

The stadium and training ground comments by GC were actually refreshing to hear, for me.
We all know we need a new stadium, and we as fans must continue to keep the pressure on the powers-that-be.
It's good to have a manager that will put 100% of his focus on the pitch - it felt like towards the end DC got burned out, frustrated and let down, one eye always on the facilities. Rightly so, but he was struggling to get the basics right, and GC's fresh approach has already got results.
Really liked GC's "90% Rovers, 10% them" philosophy too (that he coined from Mansell), it felt like under DC it was pretty 50%/50%, "Each game's a project" etc. making five changes and going 1-0 down early in a lot of games anyway.
This post feels a bit anti-DC. I love the man, but GC has been a much needed breath of fresh air, and let's hope he can keep it going and get us those 7/8 wins we need to stay up.

DC had two promotions under his belt and was rightly looking for the club to kick on. GC is just happy to have the job. When the AQ's took over, we had a new stadium on the horizon. A new Training ground was promised, Cat 2 if my memory serves. Then we consolidated in Div 1. Now, we are happy to avoid relegation. The best players sold, and the stadium and training ground have gone.
Evolution? Don't take the p1ss.

Any manager at rovers needs to get a better job ASAP if he does well, which applies to every manager at every small club imo. Coughlan has no control over issues regarding a training ground or new stadium and understands that fully im certain.
Nathan jones didnt hang around a wait to struggle at luton and i reckon dc will regret not taking the leeds job when he had the chance.
Its up to the owners to turn the club into a brentford or something reasonably realistic like that not graham coughlan.
