Around an hour ago on Radio 1 Maya Jama mentioned her dad is a Rovers fan. Any chance she could get Stormzy involved down the Mem at board level. "Ken, you are getting way to big for your boots!"

All linked to the recent changes with regards to live entertainment at the Mem ? Soon to be announced gigs with The Wild Bunch reforming from the Dug Out.

Apparently this is who she is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_JamaI'm still none the wiser, Gave up listening to popular music when the Light Programme was replaced by the new-fangled Radio 1 in 1967. No doubt she is highly respected by da yoof.

Gave up listening to popular music when the Light Programme was replaced by the new-fangled Radio 1 in 1967. Doh! The Light Programme was a BBC radio station which broadcast chiefly mainstream light entertainment and music from 1945 until 1967, when it was rebranded as BBC Radio 2.

Think you'll find it was 'rebranded' by both depending on whether it was on long wave or medium wave.

The long-lamented Light Programme was more or less replaced/rebranded by Radio 2 in 1967, with Radio 1 taking on the role of the pirate stations who were playing music from the popular beat combos of the time. Many Radio 1 and Radio 2 programmes were merged in the early days.
"Two-way family favourites" was a highlight of our Sunday lunchtime back in the day. Nobody giving it up or making some noise then. Cliff Adams...Black and White Minstrels...we were easily pleased.

Of course on my little Pye Radio - "I'd walk a million miles for one of your Smiles" - not yours I'd hasten to add.

Also, for how long are we to forego said thing that has been given up?
