Suggest you read "James243" posts No 112/113 earlier in the thread as even Michael Kelly knows nothing about the rumours. It seems the story is as some of us thought all a bit far fetched. Exactly the reply I would have given even if the story is true and I was the player concerned.

For those doubting this story, what about Aston Villa eyeing up a move for a 22 year old playing for Barry Town Macaulay Southem-Hales in the Welsh Premier League, in order to solve their problems at left back. Barnsley also interested.

I'm sure you know all about him! Only that he's a right back and former Cardiff City U23 player and last season was Barry Town's Manager’s Young Player of The Year and Players Player of the Year. Also been capped by Wales at youth level. Linked in the press with Barnsley, Bolton and Ipswich too. Not seen anything of him so can't comment on his ability.

OK, so you'd sooner rely on a football blog nobody ever heard of before called "Football Insider" rather than the player himself.

are you old enough to remember the advert... and yes i'm like an old oak tree with dutch elm disease which should have been chopped down years ago I may appear a pedant, but how can an Oak tree suffer from Dutch Elm disease? Also, did said disease only infect Elm trees from the Netherlands, or did the disease originate there? My head hurts! See i'm a Bristol Oak, a well known member of the Elm Tree family

Well be said mid December that a lot of clubs were trying to take Smith on loan. Suprised we have not let one of them, seeing as though we are stuck with Slocombe now anyway. Hopefully one of them will tie up a deal soon.

Why do you seem to have some vendetta to prove this is not true? It's idle speculation on an Internet forum and a local paper, take it at it's face value. If Kelly moves on and finds a club in the Premier League or the Championship, that's great for him I wish him all the best. If there is nothing in this, great also, we move on and get to develop a talented young left back and turn him into a really decent player who will have value in the future.

Probably just Agent talk Absolutely 100%. 6 month left on his contract. Starting to discuss a new deal. Let’s pretend there is competition to push the wage up. Happens all the time, only surprise is that so many people are too dull to realise what’s going on.

I sense hs agents overdid it though saying West Ham were interested rather than just Championship sides!!

I think Kelly is a quality player he is only 21, most players peak in their late twenties so he has plenty of years ahead of him to improve, will probably land up plying his trade in the top or more likely second tier. We are good a loosing good young players we let Broom go in the summer have we bought in any one better on the wing the answer is no. Though Rodman has done well recently he is reaching the end of his career. We are good at losing young good players? Is that actually true? Its one of those things that seems to get thrown at the club from time to time and I'm not sure why. Which young players have we released have gone on to play at our level or higher? I'm struggling to think of any. Matt Macey perhaps, though he was "bought" and not released.
