We only got £150k up front for Ellis and won’t get the full amount until the summer. I was told that by WAQ himself. I think it absolutely stinks though that a championship club, in one of the most afluent leagues in the world cannot pay a small club the majority of the transfer fee. And I also cannot believe that our board are stupid enough to accept those terms. Fair play to Higgs, when he was chairman, he squeezed every penny out of Southampton for Sir Rickie which includes £900k of the £1.25m fee up front and then inserted add ons on top including international fees. Brilliant business. I get all nostalgic when someone brings up those wonderful times under that great gas legend nick higgs.

This rumour about Sercs was swirling through the East stand like a wild fire. First he was withdrawn for talks and toward kick-off he was gone pending a medical! I couldn't see anything anywhere on the Internet and these things usually get out. I wonder who started this, and what they get for this nonsense? There's been few whispers circulating about him as there usually is surrounding him as there is for our better players, suddenly he's not picked in the mach day squad (a nasty eye infection by the way) and the rumours go out of control. You'll always find one or two ITK's who want to stoke it further and spread around Internet forums or get someone else to do it for them which doesn't help matters either. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him back for selection on tuesday, rumours like this without any credible source usually turn out to be false.

oh my god wake up!! What did DC get as a % of previous business then? Not far off 100% of the money received most of the time. He just waisted it! You clearly have something against DC. Very clearly. Are you getting waisted tonight?

If we get a good fee and a good left winger and striker then I’d be happy with that business And the chances of those all happening are...

I'm not sure why an eye infection and a transfer to Portsmouth are mutually exclusive.
If he's going, he's going, bottle of Optrex and all.

we also don’t know the full amounts we were paid? But I bet we didn’t get a third to spend on players. This club has a decent record, of selling us the fans short. It’s been going on consistently since the late 70’s, since I’ve been supporting them. A third??? Lol we have spent way more than that. If we got £250,000 for the snake, £500,000 for Bodin and only received about £200,000 for Ellis so far that's only £950,000 roughly. We spent about £300-£350,000 on Nichols. £150,000 roughly on Sercombe £250,000 on Payne roughly That's about £750,000. Then how much on Burn, Mensah, Partington and THD. If you said £50,000 each roughly that's the £950,000. Not to mention signing on fees for player's like Rodman. Clough said they could not compete with our deal. Like I said it has to be close to 100%. That's rough, some could be higher, some lower. But I can't see how we have only reinvested 33% ?? Would like to see your estimated to get it around a third. Maybe if you count the whole Ellis fee. Even then that would put the total at £1.5 million. We have spent more than £500,000 even if you under estimate the fees. you don’t and I don’t, know what we’ve received, only that it’s not anything like every other club seems to get. All I’ll say is, pay peanuts, get monkeys 👍🏽

But the game has changed since we sold Lambert, if we got the £750K in full that would have to be spent on players wages this season, getting over a few seasons means it can go towards a number of seasons wage budgets, regardless if DC have given the full £750K what would he have gone with it, bought more Payne's, Nichol's & Upson's, the ALQ's pulled off a master stroke not letting DC p1ss it all away on even more cr@p players.

If this turns out to be true then for me it almost seals our relegation. Yet again our best player has been left with 6 months on his deal, selling him on the cheap in January. When will this board learn. Not the board that need to learn mate it's the fans that need to read the writing on the wall. We should be putting pressure on them to sell the club but they don't. Instead they say pointless things like are you going to pay for it then? Talk about getting the club you deserve. Agreed, also for those saying it’s a made up rumour etc (a) no smoke without fire (b) I read it on the forum before the game and heard a lot of chatter on the Blackthorn. Just remember when the Lee Brown rumours were swirling, seemed very random at the time and then boom before we knew it he was gone.

When will this board learn. Or, when will people learn maybe the players didn't sign a contract so they could earn more elsewhere, at a club able to offer this money? Sercombe wouldn’t turn down a decent new contract and signing bonus. We get bent over time and time again by agents and players, and fans like you are half the issue. Nothing is ever our fault/fault of the board. Bet you’re the type who blame the ref for us playing sh** today.

P’boro seem to manage ok getting money up front and reinvesting. Saying that about the finances are one thing but if you sell 3 of your best players all on similar terms and then don’t reinvest well enough it will cost you money in either not challenging for play offs/ promotion just like when we sold Taylor to the scum or even more money should you get relegated which is a possibility this year. The lack of resource was the reason we ended up with Payne in the first place because we could afford anything better. Most of this seasons troubles have stemmed from selling Bodin and Harrison.

All of the quality in this side has been sold by this board, there is genuinely no one worth paying to go and watch anymore.
Taylor, Bodin, Harrison and now possibly Sercs. If we go down wouldn’t surprise me if we sell Locks to top it off.
Beggars belief how some can be okay with this. We’re being shafted, DC was lucky to get out - we as fans can’t.

Let just rename January 'Sellout month' and have done with it.
Most managers dont see the January window as a window they can buy decent players. We try our utmost to buck that trend for them, unfortunately.

He just lost his way, for what ever reason. I think he will come back stronger, after having a much needed break. DC did waiste money and we were under performing. That does not take away, what he did for us before that though. Not even had a drink lol. All I put was the fees we received and spent roughly, as people said we didn't reinvest the money. Which imo we did most of it. You think we got good value then??

Surely DC is the main reason we're in the position we now find ourselves, after he blew the best part of £1m on Parts(£80K) Burn(£40K) Nichol (£350K) Mensah (£80K) Payne (£200K) plus I doubt Bennett was a cheap transfer. DC did well until he had to rebuild the squad in Div 1 and then he was found out big time.

So we sold 3 player's of note, in how many seasons? Shrewsbury lost way more than that just this year and replaced them mainly with loans and free transfers. Other clubs have done similar. Yet they are above us.
