I clearly remember during the summer there was talk of sercombe moving to Pompey on here, nothing in the press about it then though. Obviously nothing happened as he's still here but I do wonder as to why the possibility of a move has re-emerged. Seems a bit more than coincidence.... Portsmouth look likely to be promoted. Is Sercombe good enough for the Championship? I'm not sure and would have thought they would be setting their sights a bit higher tbh.

Ive thought about this one myself and I've come to the conclusion that despite Pompey likely heading for the championship they're still gonna strengthen if they can afford to do so.... To be honest if sercs is the kind of player they need to guarantee an extra 6m by getting promoted then next seasons problems will be just that....

Shouldn't that be if the owner wants to spend some more money, as aren't they owned by a billionaire who made his money from Disney. Although promotion will most likely cost Pompey millions trying to compete rather than brings in millions. No Pompey fan seem to be suggesting they need a CM more, like us, calling out for a decent striker.

They are strengthening to cover for possible injuries and suspensions to ensure they go up. Not sure if all the signings they are making are Championship standard but I suspect they aren’t worried. Get promotion and worry about if players are Championship standard later on and get rid if not. Get promotion and cross other bridges later. UTG!

I unfortunately have a few issues with this post. 1. What makes you think that the board would reinvest the money? 2. What makes you think we wouldn’t get 10% upfront and wait another year for the rest? 3. Do you honestly believe if the money was reinvested that we would actually be able to sign any players in time, never mind of similar quality to replace him 4. I’d rather be in L1 next season and let Sercombe go for free that get £250k and be in league 2 (this is on the basis that Bodin who is a much better player went for 450k - so there isn’t a chance that Sercombe would go for the same money, nevermind more) Totally agree with point 4. The present squad is relegation doomed and we will have no money in the transfer window ( loans and under 21's only ) . However: Sercombe is a player who can create and unlock defences. If we keep him we have a fighting chance as there is 8 teams fighting for 4 places ( 50% -50 % chance). If he goes I am 80-90% we will be relegated. Not yet worked so far this season, maybe the players around him are not on the same wavelength ?

Last season he played centrally and contributed a fantastic 12 goals and 8 assists.

We had the players last season Bodin, Lines on form etc, plus Harrison able to play up top on his own allowing an extra CM. This season it's a different story with no obvious place for Sercs in the team. If we need money to rebuild the squad he's probably the only player we can sell.

If we need money to rebuild the squad Wael should put his hand in his f**king pocket. or pay the price of relegation Which is my argument with the way he is running the "business". If we drop to L2 I think that means we get around £400k less income from the EFL. Less the costs of smaller gates, what can be charged for hospitality at the ground, less the cost of ground sponsorship as your exposure goes down, if relegation doesnt total a net £1m loss in revenue I would be stunned. That will also impact the the likely amount of debt that will no doubt increase, plus interest they will likely charge. How the hell is that speculation good business sense. When we appointed Coughlan there should have been money there for him to go out and get in the team 3/4 players immediately to build on the momentum of that little run he put together. So why not put £250k in the wages kitty now for 3/4 new players, which is what Scunny have done and get it done this week. We can then worry about shipping out the rest of the dross that are here either towards the end of the window or in the summer. Scunny are now 16th on 34 points and have a bit of momentum in case our leader is watching this and wondering if it will have an impact.

Would you buy a second hand car or double glazing off Kenny Jackett ,,, no but would have him as our manager I'm sure we tried to appoint him in the past and he was interested, but we went for Ian Atkins instead. I'm sure someone might be able to correct me if I'm wrong.
