I liked the the look of our new centre foreward. But we must find out quick which of the three other strikers is best suited to partner him; Time is of importance at this stage of the season,

Yeah me too, we've been crying out for a decent replacement for Ellis.
Loved it in his interview when he said he wanted to be horrible to play against!
I think he will make a big difference, and I wouldn't mind betting that Reilly, Nichols or Jakattack will all do better alongside him tbh.
If I were GC though I would try Nichols with him to begin with.

It struck me that Clarke-Harris was everything that Payne was meant to be. in fact, for a second I thought we were bringing Payne on in the second half. But then I saw the guy win headers, play football and want to put the effort in. Then I realised we had signed a new player.

2 technical smaller players can work up front if you play a CAM behind them and work the ball to their feet. And that will mainly work against teams that want to play football themselves, perhaps teams like Portsmouth or P’boro. It doesn’t work if you play hoofball. Which is what we resort to most of the time or against sides that are fighting for a point on the road, like Wycombe and Shrewsbury.
JCH is the targetman we have needed and I’m surprised we didn’t got him straight into the 11 yesterday.

Nichols and Reilly linked up brilliantly last week at Southend. They were outstanding in the first half, particularly Nichols.
The manager needs to work out which strikers to play against which opposition. He got it right at Southend but badly wrong yesterday.
Nichols is good enough to play with any of them so it's really who to play alongside him in my opinion. As we'll probably need an outlet against Pompey and Sunderland I'd go with JCH.

Just the sort of centre forward we need. He looks a bit of a tough nut and thought he had a good game particularly winning some headers for a change

Bit early to say for me. Put himself about and a different option to what we have. Already an improvement on Payne, but that isn't hard.

He will certainly put himself about and make life difficult for defenders but he will also give away a lot of free kicks in the process. Is he thevlead man we have been waiting for? Time will tell.

What like every game is a different project and worry about the opposition? What happened to stick with a team that won well and let your opponents worry about you? Fashions change quickly on forums.

I remember some clown started a thread about payne after his first game for us. Others chipped in with comments about how much better he was than ellis etc. Lets hope clarke-harris is a good player for rovers but maybe wait a bit longer to get a better idea of his ability and character.
