They’re being trialled until the end of the season when a decision will be made on them according to Tom Gorringe. They are fairly expensive to run so I’m not surprised they are only located on the one side facing the cameras. I honestly forgot they were there after a while, I’m sure they won’t be distracting once people get used to them. I think you're right about the cameras facing the adds, also worth consideration is that the front of the west terrace is 'sunk' below pitch level (I'd guess by about 2 foot) and by comparison to any other ground I've ever visited is a completely unconventional set-up to actually install the stuff.... Old Trafford has a massive drop from playing surface to the surrounding outer pitch side area

To be fair, with the amount of hoof ball we see you don't spent much time looking at ground level! Maybe they should put some along the top of the East stand, will give you something else to look at whilst waiting for the ball to drop back down below the cloud.
