Where was this message from all the clubs at the start of the season to try and get bums on seats instead of the boycotts?
Sounds to me that the Pompey CEO wants his supporters to sell out of their allocation for Wembley by convincing their fans to attend the game because no point in boycotting it as B teams will never get in the football league!

...This is the first I have heard about this and begs the question, what was all the fuss about. Surely it's not a zero sum game though?. Some people do not want ANY non-EFL club / team in the competition, and I would respect that. It was our competition; for LGE 1 & 2 clubs only (yes, I realise some conference clubs were let in for some years in the past...). The issue of potential creep towards u23's into the EFL is just one issue. I understood your last sentence was the major reason the majority of posters were against the competition. Now the info that it is never likely to happen has emerged, it would seem to me the protesters are now just complaining about the inclusion of under 21's , in an already Micky Mouse competition.

I'll guarantee you a lot of Prem fans and most Prem owners already think L1 and L2 are a Mickey Mouse competition.

I'm boycotting for both reasons. The statement from the Portsmouth CEO hasn't allayed my fears that B teams won't ever be introduced to the lower leagues.

Until there clubs get relegated into a lower division , such as Sunderland, Coventry, Blackburn, Bolton and so on have recently done. I can a remember man city being in this division, I would love to see the Manchester clubs in this division, how embarrassing it would be for the arrogant gits.

For what it's worth, I was not a boycotter. In fact attended a couple of the games including the one against Swansea at the Liberty. Had a ticket for Tuesday's semi final, but did not attend due to the weather and the thought of a two hundred mile round trip on a wet and windy day did not seem a very good idea. So stayed at home, watched on Sky and the club benefitted from the £10 my ticket cost.

It is and always has been a Micky Mouse competition when compared to the FA and league cups as far as I am concerned.

A good night out at a proper stadium watching the team who I have supported for 62 years since I was seven years old. Just a pity only about 60 Gasheads bothered to turn up. Perhaps our club might have done better in recent years in the FA and League cups without the distraction of the likes of the FA Trophy and Checkatrade.

Yeah, I was hoping for fewer.

So the next question to ask us what percentage of the 72 clubs is needed to remove academy sides from the Football League Trophy?

For me, it's the PL looking down their noses at the rest (again) and using 'our' competition to blood their U23s because they can't risk playing them in their 'proper' cups. The PL, EFL and team England dress this up for the plebs as helping England's future and giving young English players a chance, but totally undermining this by stuffing the sides they put out with foreign players. But it doesn't matter, because we don't matter, because we're smaller and it's not a 'proper' competition. Of course the PL and team England could insist that young English players formed the backbone of each PL side, but that would dilute their 'proper' competitions, stuff 'em.

Southgate was complaining before Christmas there was only around 50 English players he cold pick for internationals actually playing in the Premiership, so that seems to defeat the argument Checkatrade will benefit the England national teams as numbers are still dropping, carry on like this and soon there just be the likes of Kane playing regularly in the Premiership.

Don’t be so narrow minded, Tom Nichols will be playing there soon.

Anyone know who the 8 clubs that were ok with it were?
I'd put my left bollock on Forest Green being one of them!
