Hi Everyone, Most of you know me from this place, but what most won't know is that I am also a Cub Scout leader working with kids 8-10yrs old. It's something that I'm very passionate about and it's both challenging and rewarding and provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to enjoy adventure, danger, fun and a greater awareness of their local communities. I hope no one minds but I would like to share a link to my Just Giving page. www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/intense-tents?utm_term=dgJ2Q6zyVI am trying to raise some much needed money to help towards replacing our 3 damaged patrol tents used for camping. (An essential part of Scouting!) I know how much Rovers fans love a tent so really, it's a match made in heaven! I have thought long and hard about posting this as it goes against my nature but I think that this is a worth a try. Rest assured that every single penny raised will go directly into our pot and will only be used to help us reach our goal of replacing our equipment. A single patrol tent costs in the region of £750 so I have set a target to reflect that. Having never done something like this before I have no idea if this is a realistic target or if I am living in a dream land!! Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Hugo.

Thanks Russ. I am grateful for every penny we can raise, even if it's just the cost of buying a pint but I would by no means want anyone to feel obligated in any way!! There are a lot of needy people in the world and I understand how difficult it is to make ends meet at home! If you can't give, maybe just share the link if you think it's something worthwhile. A bit of background, I've been volunteering with my local scout group for nearly 5 years now. First as a parent helper with Beavers then as an Assistant Cub Leader before taking over as Group Cub Leader last Autumn. Since taking over I have been involved in getting our cub pack more interested in community work and they have attended the Memorial Service, they have made a collection for and been visited by our local food bank and they also dug a local community sensory garden for our local community center. They were actually nominated for a BANES community volunteer young team of the year award for this. I will also be getting them involved in our local litter picking events now that the weather and light has improved. Scouting is a brilliant place for kids to get off their Xboxes and actively do something more positive. I'd urge anyone to get involved.

Donated.
I live abroad in Bratislava, Slovakia. Last year we unfortunately lost our friend as he was protecting on of our friends on a night out from a guy hitting on her. He was beaten & killed. Henry was from the Philippines & his poor family didn't come from much money.
I made a GoFundMe page to raise money for Henry's family. In the end I had to stop the page because it got too popular (press & tax concerns) and direct people to another charity's page. In total my campaign made £14,000 and altogether we raised about £25,000 - enough for his family to buy a house in the centre of Manila.
From that moment on, I've really appreciated the work some people do for others & just how important these pages are to people, families & communities.
Keep up the good work, Hugo.

Just donated a little sum.
As an ex-cub and scout, back in the 19th century or so it feels, I can confirm it is a great organisation and really makes kids into better people.
I would like to say I'm living proof of that, but there's always the exception to the rule.

Done and donated, feel a bit measly with my £5, so will add some further next week Don't be daft!!! Every donation is fantastic, no matter the amount!! Would not want to put people off donating because they feel the "standard" amount is too high. There is absolutely no pressure to donate at all so thank you again for your kind donation.

Have you tried contacting Michael Eavis? After every Glastonbury festival there are hundreds (several hundreds actually!) of perfectly good tents left behind which our local cubs/scouts get to have for free. This years festival isn't far off so it may be worth a shout.
