But Alfie and Rollin were going to get game time to benefit us in the longer term
Osho has come in to cover in the short term.
I am assuming Parts injury is a bit more than a niggle and with Leadbitter injured we may need some defensive cover and recalling Alfie is because of this
Yeah I get that, it does make some sense but I just meant is it actually more beneficial to get game time at a much inferior level rather than be in-and-around the squad? FWIW, I'm not sure which side of that fence I fall on - inclined to go game time but playing the likes of Boreham Wood and Dover hardly readies them for L1 football does it? Ideally, you want Rollin and Alfie playing L2 to gauge better if they're ready for L1 - obviously no L2 clubs wanted to take them, so Im cautious about some saying they're ready to step up. I'd rather see them at a L2 on loan or playing Checkatrade and FA cup games for us to see if they're ready for us. Hopefully, they'll have a good summer and start giving GC some selection headaches for next season.

I see what you're saying but then again there are plenty of examples of players that have transferred from Conference clubs to L1 and L2 that have performed very well over the years. Therefore if our players can perform well for Conf clubs out on loan, there's a chance they could be ready made for stepping up to first team football for us. If they had only been on the bench or just training with the first team for us, without any realistic opportunity of playing, then they would not be ready made for first team football, as they wouldn't have the experience of playing at any level, nor the match fitness.

Highly rated by Coughlan, highly rated.
They want to blood him in before the end or the season.

Highly rated by Coughlan, highly rated. They want to blood him in before the end or the season. Not disputing what you've written but would be interested to know how you know ? Imo the fact he was given a new contract even after missing the majority of last season injured must mean they think he has potential.

It really was a lovely finish with his left foot on Tuesday night. Limbs everywhere in that stand (if you can call it that!) what a brilliant moment for Alfie. Really would love to see him breakthrough, whatever league we're in next year

Anyone know what's happened to Osho? Got all confused and ended up in Soho

I know a guy who knows Alfie / his family. Always been highly rated at Rovers & a nice lad. The fact that he's been kept on year after year, even after seriously injured, speaks volumes.

There's constant threads of players who Kilgour actually played a similar level to some of them. Have seen a lot of Maidenhead fans say he's their best CB ever.

At least he’s got a readymade song...”Alfie Kilgour’s got the napalm blues, from his green tin hat to his combat boots”, courtesy of Colonel Kilgore’s Vietnamese Formation Surf Team (circa 1986).

Given GC said pre-match he was reluctant to call Kilgour back from his loan spell there seems no truth in the suggestion the club wants to blood him anyway. I'd have the club sole interest this season is survival not given DS players game time. There's pre-season for that next summer.

Looking at it again and in view of injuries to leadbitter, partington and holmes-dennis as well as lockyer being on international duty its easy to understand why we recalled alfie.

With our perilous position, and the number of defenders out, I would like to think that Wales might let Locks miss sitting on the bench for them?
