Did I read somewhere that Craig is missing the Gills game through suspension or am I making that up? If so, will Alfie get a chance or will JC play CB?

Someone posted that, but then others said he's not suspended, as you need more than 5 to get a ban at this stage. Lockyer will probably miss the Plymouth game though. So he could get a chance then. Think he would have played tomorrow if he was banned. As Partington and Leadbitter are injured. So if JC played in the middle, who would have played right back??

FFS
PS - has everyone contributed to Hugo's tent fund yet?
Edit - just for clarity, I'm being grumpy above, apart from encouraging donations to Hugo's scouts/cubs tent fund, a great cause.

Yeah I get that, it does make some sense but I just meant is it actually more beneficial to get game time at a much inferior level rather than be in-and-around the squad? FWIW, I'm not sure which side of that fence I fall on - inclined to go game time but playing the likes of Boreham Wood and Dover hardly readies them for L1 football does it? Ideally, you want Rollin and Alfie playing L2 to gauge better if they're ready for L1 - obviously no L2 clubs wanted to take them, so Im cautious about some saying they're ready to step up. I'd rather see them at a L2 on loan or playing Checkatrade and FA cup games for us to see if they're ready for us. Hopefully, they'll have a good summer and start giving GC some selection headaches for next season. Rollin played at Swindon last season

Nice words from the manager. 'He's a future club captain' - Coughlan hails Bristol Rovers youngster He said: “He has impressed me and I am hopeful about him. “I am not great at predictions but I think Alfie could be a future captain of this football club, I hold him in that high esteem and I have been really impressed with what I have seen from him as a character, as a person and ability wise as well. “I have liked Alfie since the first day I saw him. “He is a proper centre half, he reminded me a little bit of myself, albeit not as good looking. But he reminded me of myself when I saw him playing. He heads the ball with a purpose and he enjoys defending. “I think the enjoyment of defending has largely gone out of the game over the years but good defenders always enjoy defending and Alfie is one of them. “I didn’t really want to bring him back because part of his development was getting game time and the last thing I want to do is bring them back and put them on the bench or in the stands. “It was a little bit unfortunate on Alfie because I would have liked to see him finish the season, get a good 25, 30 games under his belt because he has been enjoying it." “Their manager, Alan Devonshire, rang me and he wanted to keep him, he wanted to hold on to him," Coughlan added. "But we have got some good’uns coming through, we have got Deon Moore [striker], Rhys Kavanagh training with the first team as well, young Alexis André Jr in goal and obviously we have got Michael Kelly and Luke Russe who is out on loan as well. “We have got a platter of up-and-coming good potential there and it is my job to maximise that potential to try and push them on and get them as much experience as possible and that is part and parcel of their training here with the first team. Great to see our gaffer promoting the youth and affording them opportunities. Given our supposed desire to not spend tonnes more money, blooding our youngsters seems of paramount importance going forward.

Currently playing CB for the development squad and whilst he has scored, we’ve managed to so far concede 4 to a youthful Peterborough side. Perhaps not ready to throw into the deep end against Plymouth away from home yet? I suppose we won’t know until we try and I certainly think he deserves a chance, he’s impressed out on loan, but I’d have more confidence with Craig and James Clarke at CB going into such an important game. Don’t know what everyone else thinks?

Don’t know what everyone else thinks? I guess if he was at fault for a goal or two then he may have played his way out of contention. However, he may have played well personally despite a poor team performance? I don't know either way having not been there. i would prefer him to get his opportunity against Plymouth - if he's now in his early 20's, fresh from a successful loan spell and is highly thought of by the club he deserves the chance. If we push a right back to centre half instead it doesn't say a lot for his future prospects.

Chuck him straight in, alongside Millwall Tone he’ll be fine. As few changes as possible is the order of the day.
We went to Northampton last year & scored 6 without reply, having fresh pups Mayonnaise & Broadbent both playing CB. As mentioned, he’s in his 20’s and had a successful loan spell elsewhere. Not like we’re throwing a 17 year old in. Locks is a huge loss no doubt, but we’ll be alright.

Yes, to be fair neither of us are there so no comment can be made on his individual performance, every CB would be disappointed with his team conceding four though. James Clarke has deputised very well at CB in the past and has played many times there without letting us down so in my view it would hardly be like playing a RB out of position. Like I said, Kilgour deserves his chance and I don’t want to sound harsh towards him but maybe give him than chance in a game towards the end of the season if we are safe then rather than an away game against a relegation rival as we sit 2 points above the relegation zone?

I was at Northampton that day and also at Plymouth away last season when Taylor dismantled Lockyer and Craig for 90 minutes and you couldn’t give Northampton as a worse example. We might have to throw him in on Saturday but it won’t be a walk in the park like at relegated Northampton. Plymouth have one of the leagues top scorers as well and are sat second in the form league

We’ve got a bit of an injury crisis on our hands at the moment, hope THD and Ogogo are fit for Saturday, It’ll be a big boost to us if they are.

Plymouth have one of the leagues top scorers as well and are sat second in the form league I consider it a fair enough example. We thrashed Cobblers in the October, they were poor on the day but far from already doomed to go down. They also still had the golden oldies Matt Taylor & Revell in their ranks, until the straight red obviously. Our youthful defensive pairing kept them at bay brilliantly from the off. I thought we were decent at Plymouth last time out, undone by criminal Argyle cheating & abysmal refereeing in the second 45. I’m Certainly not anticipating a stroll on Saturday, but the one change at CB (IMO) will keep us alot more steady than changes at centre half and full back.

Fair comments but I am just pointing out that cobblers team was terrible and so were their past it strikers.
Craig will help Kilgour and so will Bonham, if take a draw now and I hope Taylor starts as sub as he did Saturday.
