I thought upson was awful today and us playing 3 defensive midfielders and sacrificing width really does kill us at times... I watched upson a lot today and he didn’t ever pick a player but just ran into space when they had the ball or just kept in the shadows of the charlton players because he was out of position a lot. Sercs had a shocker and Nichols proved to be back to non productive and didn’t even attempt to get into scoring positions... Basically playing with no wingers gave charlton the chance to put 2 players on Jch as they had men over and Nichols then become too deep to get the ball... The midfield played too deep today... I hope we stay up but just hope we change back to playing with wingers and more balanced than playing to deep and just getting men behind the ball rather than being tighter... Good effort today and we done charlton for fitness in the end as they tired in the end. Feel gutted we didn’t win in the end but hey ho..up the gas Not sure GC's got much choice given Rodman's gone missing again and Matthews seems well out of favour. It'll be interesting to see the type of wide players we bring in this summer. Both Rodman and Matthews, together with two other players, were on the pitch with Lee Mansell before the match squad warm-up doing fitness running and routines. So probably a matter of returning to match fitness for both of them.

This is nit picking...point gained, two lost. Who cares. We kept the cockney rent boys aaht. A month ago, I would take 10 points from 12 all day long. Forget individual performances.GC has got us playing again and not conceding. There is a place for Craig and Beckenbauer in the team...constant swipes at this pair is unnecessary. But the latter is definitely undroppable !! They both work but need more support from fellow defenders.Or the other way around. Give Liam Sercombe a break...he has run his socks off for us for yonks. UTG...the glorious Gas.

Good report and agree with most of it, particularly the bit about having to play without international players. I'm starting to see your point about Upson too. Thought he carried our midfield today pretty much singlehandedly. I'm clearly in the minority today though as I thought it was a poor game. Understandable, given the conditions but poor nonetheless. Did we ever look like scoring? We clearly set up to contain and appeared to have little ambition to go and win the game, which is disappointing when playing at home (especially when they put the prices up!), although again, understandable given our predicament. And we are still in a predicament. With just two points separating us from League 2, we still have a hell of a lot to do to atay in this league. Yes we did: JCH’s free kick in the first half drawing an absolutely stunning save from their keeper; Ollie Clarke’s power drive that went narrowlty wide; and Jak’s chance from JCH’s pass towards the end that was narrowly was offside....by about three yards, are three times that instantly spring to mind when we looked like scoring - a really good game of football JCH's free kick I'll agree...it was a fabulous save that he had no right to make. Ollie's shot was pretty speculative though, and Jak was miles offside. Flip side is that Locks cleared one off the line and Bonham made a good save too. I'm not knocking them. I think it was definitely a point gained. I would have likee to have seen us try to take the game to them a bit, although fully understand GC's reasons for caution.

What is GC thinking playing OC, a tough tackling DM, right wing? Bizarre. Real shame OC was wasted out wide on what was his 200th league appearance, get Nichols wide right and Jakubiak, who looked lively, alongside JCH for Plymouth. OC was wide right ? He played on the right of 3 or 4 but wasn't getting chalk on his boots. Also because of that wind. the ball was very much on our left side first half and on our right second ( Ollie saw more of the ball then). Noticed, a lot giving low marks for our midfield yesterday - were we outplayed there yesterday ? There no.2 was very good as a wing back until late on and the lad Cullen was good, but thought Reeves did a lot of sideways stuff and was well-contained. Think Charlton look a better team than Pompey - could yet face each other in the play offs. Were our midfield outplayed? Yes, I'd say they were at times. That said, we defended superbly when we had to and got better as the game went on, albeit by bypassing midfield most of the time. Thought Upson was particularly good at the base of the diamond though.

Agree with virtually all of this, but sorry, Liam was dreadful yeaterday and has been for much of the season. Last season, he was really good and contributed through goals rather than working his socks off. That's fine, but when the goals dry up he's bound to attract criticism as he contributes little else. I want the Sercombe of last season back, because that Sercombe is a real asset to any team.

Don't worry about losing Lockyer. He shouldn't be captain anyway. massive 🛎 end Lockyer isn't the best central defender the club has ever had, but I think it's most unfair to call him that.

Great point and a good watch I’d say despite the biting wind I wasn’t prepared for! Midfield wasn’t really happening but was a mix of individual performances, wind and both teams cancelling each other out. Upson was marginally the weaker link for me but not much in it. Table still troublingly tight but makes game in hand ever more vital and loving the GD which looks like it really will matter I thought Upson was the best of our four central midfielders. Sercombe looked to weak in the conditions and way off it., ogogo looked like he’s carrying an injury and shouldn’t be playing and Olly couldn’t pass to a Rovers shirt and looked well off it. Upson wasn’t great mind but the best of the midfield bunch for me. Our defence were all our best players which is apt considering it was our fourth clean sheet in a row.
