I was there! I think we won 1-0 With Darren Eadie the ex Norwich striker scoring? Heskey played up front and Buffon was in goal for Italy. Eadie, one of a number of West Country lads picked up by Norwich and their scout in the region, Richard Everson (who would later become our chief scout under Holloway). Eadie was actually a Rovers fan as a youngster. Didn't realise that! www.11v11.com/matches/england-v-italy-12-february-1997-259140/

I went to the U23 game there in the early 70’s v East Germany (lost 0-1) Larry Lloyd played in the game... Can remember attending a number of under 23 games in the sixties at Ashton Gate including England v Wales. Also a Football league game v Irish league at Eastville. This side always included many full internationals and sometimes a local player or two. Trying my hardest to remember if any Rovers/City player was in the side that night. Can remember it was a very high scoring game, not surprising considering the opposition. Just checked, match was in 1961, result 5-2 to England. The FL side at Eastville that night. Ron Springett Jimmy Armfield Ray Wilson Peter Swan Ron Flowers Bobby Charlton Ray Pointer John Connelly Brian Douglas Johnny Haynes Bobby Robson Scorers Connelly 1, Douglas 2, Haynes 1, own goal 1. Apart from the Rovers, probably the finest team of players to grace Eastville.

If you're going, well done for helping to widen the gap between us. Hmm.. Bit of an odd response. So, according to your previous posts, it's fine to watch a Premier League U-21 side in the Checkatrade trophy at the Mem, but morally repugnant to watch England at Trashton?

I went to the last under 21 game there in 1997 against Italy.I remember having the shits and being scared of shellsuits for a month after. I was there! I think we won 1-0 With Darren Eadie the ex Norwich striker scoring? Heskey played up front and Buffon was in goal for Italy. Im sure Heskey scored right at the end in front of the east end and we 2-1 or 2-0.. The game kicked off at 5pm or so then the full side draw 0-0 in Rome later that night to get to france 98...Ince with the headband etc..

If you're going, well done for helping to widen the gap between us. Don’t be daft. Lots of kids in Bristol seeing an international for the first time will be exciting for them. Blimey they’re hardly going to play it at the Mem unfortunately. Up to our owners to remedy that. Hope the kids enjoy it. UTG!

A bit disappointing that Hudson-Odoi won't be playing after his call up to the senior side, but looking forward to watching the likes of Phil Foden, James Maddison, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Reiss Nelson, Ryan Sessegnon and others tomorrow. I'm also a little disappointed that Robert Gumny and Dawid Kownacki won't be involved as they are now with the senior side and Sebastian Szymanski is injured for the Poles. Three good players. But, still should be a good game.

Also, AWB is a brilliant defender and doing tremendously well for Palace. With Valencia, Young and Darmian being old/crap and Dalot still very raw, I'm hoping United go after him (but he'll inevitably end up at City now lol). Enjoy the game, those who are going. Tonnes of great talent on display.
