Still doesn't get over the fact that 4 Bradford players are in the box, when the goal kick is taken. FA rules are very clear on this infringement, that the kick should be retaken. The ref needs to re-educated.
If it is a rule (and I am not doubting it is) then it is a stupid rule. What's to stop an opposition player from staying in the box to stop the keeper from taking a goal kick, in an effort to time waste? Like when the keeper takes forever to take a goal kick to waste time!
Yes rules are rules but to me, this is no different to a quick free kick being taken where you have opposition players still within 10 yards of the ball when the free kick is taken. Ref's allow it and I cant see the harm in it. I bet this happens up and down the country each week.
I also bet not 1 single player of Bradford had complained to the ref that the Oxford goal shouldn't have been allowed because they were still in the Oxford box when the keeper took his quick goal kick.
Good decision by the officials at the time and the right outcome in the end. Although I rather it had ended 0-0 instead of Oxford taking the 3 points.
So next time we conceded a penalty and the opposition take it quickly and then score as our goalie was walking back to his goal line, you'll just accept it as being similar to a quick free kick? Surely rules are rules and it's the refs job to impose them not just make them up as he feels like it.

Surely rules are rules and it's the refs job to impose them not just make them up as he feels like it. Come on Topper, you are much better than that stupid example! You don't get chance to take a quick penalty do you? The ref has to make sure he is happy with the keeper being on his line and that there is no player is in area and to allow the linesman to get into their position to get on the goal line to make sure if the ball crosses the line or not. The ref has to be happy with all that and that the ball is correctly on the spot before je can blow his whistle to signal the penalty can be taken.
As a side point though, the law also says no player can enter the box until after the penalty has been taken so if there is any encroachment then the penalty has to be taken again. 99.9999999% of penalties actually has encroachment happening before a penalty it taken. But does the officials make the penalty be taken again? Once in a blue moon that happens and when it is retaken, encroachment still happens then but the ref just allows it. Why does the officials let this go then? Same as a quick free kick being allowed when you still have opposition players within 10 yards and the same as opposition players being in the box when a quick goal kick happens.
Move along, nothing to see here. Its only been made into an issue because how the ref messed up by keep changing his mind on the goal. If he hadnt done this then no one would have noticed or have been bothered. Simples.

Just saw highlights of Oxford v Bradford and wtf! Please efl don't allocate this idiot to any of our games this season, or indeed any season! He was in the middle a couple of seasons ago when we lost to Chesham in the FA Cup and Birmingham in the Capital One Cup, also last year when we drew against Charlton in the league We don't seem to do very well when he is ref -is it us or him??

Pretty sure you have to get referees permission to take a free kick quickly ie if players are less than 10 yards away. Presume same would apply with a quick free kick so still think ref dropped an almighty changer.

There's no leeway with goal kicks, same as kick offs, I assume the ref will get a "ban" this weekend to confirm he got it wrong.
