Nerves are getting to some Chairmen. Scunthorpe sacked Stuart McCall today. They looked as if they had pulled away from the bottom after a very good winter but a poor February and March has pulled them back in. Istr lots on here moaning about Rovers not signing lots of players in the January window like Scunthorpe did. Well that didn’t seem to go too well for SMc and in the end, and there’s a long way to go, GC seemed to have got two players who’ve had an impact. Quality not quantity. But there is a lesson to be learned here. Just when you think you’re safe, you lose a couple and others win and drag you back in. We’ve got to keep our nerve, pick up points and never believe we’re safe until we mathematically are. UTG!

Not many on here thought GC had done well in the window at the time - Coventry rejects, Widdrington has no other contacts etc.......

If he can finish the job and make us safe, there's no doubt he deserves the chance next season to see what we can do with a full pre season under him. The 2 and a half year deal which I didn't agree with at the time would then start to look like good sense. Still got a job to do until then though, but I'm confident we can do it now. UTG!

That can't be right. Scunthorpe had a brilliant window getting all the right players in early, while we had a sh** window only managing two rejects late on.

They did make some good signings in January, but McCall obviously not the right man to get the best out of them.

The two signings we made in January have (probably) saved us - the impact they've made is nothing short of remarkable.
I'm happy to admit, I was hugely underwhelmed by both signings - albeit happy to give them a chance to prove themselves before writing them off; but I was certainly pretty certain we'd go down.
WOW.
Ogogo and JCH have been absolutely brilliant. JCH is the second coming of Any Rammell. He will keep us up.
It's certainly taught me to never judge signings based on their past in future. It'll be incredibly interesting to see whether we've all learnt a lesson this window - almost certainly not; but we'd do very well to remember this window for years to come as it really should teach a valuable lesson.

And I am very happy to be proven wrong..... for once Easily done and it is hard to be objective and patient when we were/are facing relegation in the face. I guess as Rovers fans we've had success with so many casts offs, journeymen, waifs and strays that we probably should bide our time a bit before being too critical? We've all been guilty of jumping the gun as Rovers fans I'm sure, even more easily done when there is such a malaise around off pitch matters and secrecy from our owners.

Be careful what you wish for. I mainly wish for a competent board.

It's sh*t or get off the pot time for a lot of clubs down there. With only 7 games to go, it's a desperate last roll of the dice for Scunny/Bradford etc.

Absolutely agree in respect of JCH. His leading the line, robustness, abiluty to bring others into play and of course, the goals (oh, the goals!!) have been instrumental in our recent recovery. Like you, I'd rather watch a player a few times before judging him. With Ogogo, the jury's out a bit for me. I'm not completely convinced he has made that much of an impact. He's fine, a decent combative midfielder, but I'm not sure he's any better than what we have. He's no worse certainly, and a decent enough signing who adds to the midfield options, but I don't see his signing as responsible for changing our season. As someone else said, funny how we all see things differently.
