Championship clubs will always send scouts to watch players hitting a bit of form in the lower leagues, they’d be silly not to. The chances are, he could score in every match between now and the end of the season and the Championship clubs still might baulk at his price tag or previous record and make no attempt to sign him.
Enjoy him whilst his good form lasts (I hope forever) and enjoy the fact that we have players that are in demand which surely indicates we are doing something right again.

It's all a bit ridiculous, he hasn't proved anything yet other than he is in the best form of his career for a few weeks. Considering he has bounced round a few clubs and not shown the form he has at Rovers that should give some of these clubs food for thought. Probably just his agent trying to drum up a bidding war at the end of the season. Anyway, if there really are some clubs that desperate out there I hope we rinse the crap out of them seeing as he has only just signed a contract with us: starting price 2 million. Let's see how desperate they are. Knowing us we will flog him for 500k payable in installments Championship clubs such as Preston, Brum, Millwall, basically any of them that don't have parachute money, will poach any lower league goalscorer they can in order to try to unearth a gem. It's the only way they can possibly compete with the Premier League money from the relegated PL clubs. Sadly if JCH continues to show his quality until the end of the season, I see his sale as inevitable.

And proves yet again that slagging off players, staff and owners over a few stats needs to stop. The over reaction to his signing was embarrassing to be honest. No wonder he looks like he wants to tell everyone to f**k off when he scores. He probably read that thread! Who was slagging him off? I'm sure most are pleasantly surprised that he has stepped up to the plate and if his success rubbing it in poster's faces spurs him on to score more goals then that is fantastic in my opinion and I'm glad to have been of service. But strewth there seems to be a lot of point scoring going on based on 5 goals in two months. It's all a bit pathetic really. If he stops scoring and we get relegated we won't hear a peep out of the people giving it the big one now. Didn't hear a peep out of you about Payne, come to think of it... So okay, in the future I'll learn my lesson not to have any doubts about our signings whatsoever because they are all brilliant, like Payne and Bakayoko. Brilliant transfer business- how could I ever have had doubts?! :rolls eyes: No, there’s no points scoring going on just a few pointing out, quite rightly, that everytime we sign someone, we get the same old stuff slagging off the owners, slagging off our recruitment and slagging off the manager etc. etc. before they’ve even seen the player play. We saw it with Joe Lumley, Jack Bonham, Ogogo and Clarke-Harris. Ive no idea whether that was you or not 365, I can’t be bothered to check back and frankly it doesn’t worry me if you did or if you didn’t. That’s up to posters what they say but there’s no denying some of the posts were critical even abusive and they were very embarrassing in view of what many of the players have now done. Support the team, support the club UTG!

There certainly seems to be a refreshing sea change taking place. I see a Bristol Rovers rising I see the Gas are on the way I've seen Wycombe cheats and lightning I see better times today. Down the ground tonight With JCH on fire Bristol Rovers on the rise.

Clarke-harris had a decent career before he joined rovers. We payed an undisclosed fee for him. He was very young playing in a struggling rotherham team in the championship. He played his part in coventry's promotion last season and was a regular this season. It was widely reported that sunderland were looking to sign him before we signed him.

It's amazing how moving to the other side of the world gives you a much better sense of perspective. I've just woken up and am scrolling through this thread and it's like reading through all the good things and bad things about the club over the last three decades all boiled down into one thread (stadium issues aside....) We've got a striker on a short but good run of form. Half the fans will be upset if we sell him too cheap, half the fans will be upset if we sell him for a decent price, half the fans will be upset if we don't sell him and he loses form and then half the fans will claim they told you so if we keep him, he has a dip in form but then comes good in nine months time. Never the same 50% of fans at the same time, they just rotate around social media and/or where you are standing in the ground and/or what his current form is for us or for whatever club he moves to..... ...He probably read that thread! If he's reading this one I'll say to him what I'd like to say to any player at the club - if and when you want to leave do it for the right reasons at the right time. (Assuming we don't get relegated), if you leave this summer we'll assume you just want more money and whilst that's pretty much everyone's goal in life, if you leave too soon you might reach a career dead-end very quickly. Leave too soon and you're moving on the buyer's terms - you'll probably need to prove yourself from day one and if you don't it can very quickly go south..... ...the alternative is to spend another 12 months proving yourself with us, at which point you can leave with both the club and the fan's support, and you're leaving on your terms - and I suspect that makes your move ten times easier.....

THAT'S the potential of our club.

And possibly get injured before then and be unable to move on, regretting forever the original decision. i.e. Take the opportunity as soon as you can...(a la Taylor, Matty).

Any proof that was the case as Mark Robbins stated that he joined us on a free after no offers were forthcoming from the likes of Sunderland & Fleetwood? "But on a remarkable day of events, City went from possibly getting a fee for the centre-forward to simply getting him off the wage bill." www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/revealed-sunderland-portsmouth-contacted-coventry-15767404

In the end it doesn’t matter what/if we paid for him. He’s here he’s scoring goals and we look a better team with him. Great! UTG!

MT (afaik) out of contract in the summer. Can you imagine what an in-form MT-JCH partnership would do in League 1?

MT (afaik) out of contract in the summer. Can you imagine what an in-form MT-JCH partnership would do in League 1? Extended his contract until the summer of 2020. Can't see him coming back here under any circumstances anyway. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46911721

sorry mate but there's just something not quite right about these stats ...that was the joke.... Well... Just thought I'd say that I understood it a different way. It does indeed take only two halves to make one complete fanbase.... however, that is not to say that a single fan can not be in two halves holding two of the otherwise divided opinions. e.g. said fan could fall into the category of half the fans: " will be upset if we don't sell him and he loses form" whilst co-existing in the category of half the fans: "will claim they told you so if we keep him, he has a dip in form but then comes good in nine months time" , There are also more than likely some forumers that can contradict themselves so much that they appear in all four segments at some point or even at the same time! Equally there will be some keyboard warriors who can trawl back through years of posts during the school holidays to find evidence of this and fling it back in someone's face just for the self satisfaction of some public ridicule. Disclaimer: This post is just an observation of this forum in general and is not directed at any specific person. Any resemblance to any member, living or dead, is purely coincidental... that said, if you see yourself falling in to more than one of these halves then "if the cap fits.." (and it makes this forum far more entertaining).
