HT: Rover 0 Glos City 1 It seems White (J) & Harrison can't even score at this level This level?! They are only a League below us! Jamie White has since scored by the way.

I assume with FGR up next Glos City haven't put out full 1st team, so basically Harrison can't even score against Glos City reserves.
Far play to Harry White, perhaps he's worth a longer trial.

I've replayed their goal several times and it looks like its hit the side netting. I may have had as pint or two but anyone else think the same?

I've replayed their goal several times and it looks like its hit the side netting. I may have had as pint or two but anyone else think the same? I think it's because it goes straight in from the cross. Your brain is trying to tell you the striker on the far post got it.

Well done to the lads, an important performance to get the winning feeling back round the place, a few goalscorers to think about too.
And the first team debut of 15 year old Lewis Ellington, who to put things into perspective is now on his way to school.
UTG
Marcus Stewart's reflections:
Marcus Stewart saw his side beat Gloucester City at the Memorial Stadium tonight, thanks to goals from Harry and Jamie White.
Their goals Saw Rovers overturn a one goal deficit and go through to the next round of the Gloucestershire FA Challenge Cup where they now face a home tie against Cirencester Town.
“I think we grew into the game after a little bit of an indifferent first half, where we didn’t quite get things right,” said Marcus.
“We spoke about things at half time and made a couple of changes which made a big difference.”
His side scored twice in the space of a minute, the second from Jamie White proving to be the winner.
“It was a typical poacher’s effort from Jamie, and it was great to see him get off the mark with his first goal for the club. He’s a box player and I was really pleased for him and he will be relieved to score with that near post header.”
Skipper Mark McChrystal led by example; “He was outstanding and led the team very well. He’s a captain, and acts like one. It’s been a frustrating time for him recently but there is no faulting his attitude even though he’s not in the first team at the moment.
“I can honestly say that the senior pros we had at the club last season wouldn’t have put in a performance the same as those players we had out there tonight.
“We didn’t have that kind of leadership around the place and our younger players will have benefitted from playing with the likes of Mark tonight.”
The two half time substitutes, Lewis Ellington and Harry White will be new names to Rovers supporters.
“Lewis is only 15 and is an Academy player who only made his debut for the U-18 side a couple of weeks ago, at Bournemouth. He’s from Whitchurch, my neck of the woods, and it’s first time I’ve seen him play. He appeared to be quite confident and he coped very well in the 45 minutes he was on.
“Harry came in on trial with us yesterday and scored the opening goal tonight with a powerful header from a corner and he did very well. He plays for Banbury United, but we will certainly be taking another look at him.
“Overall, it was a satisfying night’s work. I was pleased we came from behind to win the game, I’ve seen one or two lads I’ve not seen before and our senior players were a credit to the club.”

It is good to see the attitude of players considering some of the stick they get from the fans these days. I also thought the comments about the youngsters coming through was heart warming and glad to see that we are looking at local talent. Lets hope if Harry White is good enough he doesn't get poached by anyone else.
