We’ve got a sell on clause on Ellis, hopefully he moved and this goes towards the money we owe Shrewsbury. Ellis ironically could move do nearer a £1 million pound sell for us

Jesus if Pompey signed Lockyer Brown & Ellis then we’d really look even bigger idiots for losing a core L1 promotion squad for 750k Core L1 promotion squad? Really?? Far from convinced any of those players will ever hit those heights. 750k will go down as cracking business for Ellis. Was never ready for the step up and don't think he'll make a big impact when he returns to this level. Would you prefer if I said promotion chasing? Pompey will be chasing promotion again and very likely they'll be in the top 6. If they had a CB, LB & Striker who all played for Rovers who was captain, top scorer & first starter in Brown (even free kick & penalty taker) then I'd say that's a core of a squad, wouldn't you?

Sometimes signings just don’t work out, the signings of Payne and Bennett were both lauded at the time. What great business. Every manager makes duff signings, it’s the nature of the job. Not every player will work out for you. We have a couple of players at the club that need moving on but the apparent size of their contracts will be a stumbling block. Hopefully we’ll end the summer with all parties happy with the outcome. It’s certainly an interesting time for the club, we’ll probably start the campaign with one maybe two players in the starting eleven that were with us at the beginning of 2018. It is a little funny on this forum. Our “great signings” ie benett, Payne and co are lauded meanwhile we sign lumley who turns out to be brilliant. I seem to remember somebody saying not another of these kids DC! Lumley was a great signing but he wasn't our player. Payne and Bennett were signed on contracts and have been very poor. There's a difference there.

That would depend entirely on how often they featured and who are the remaining players in the team. I'm not convinced Harrison, Brown and Lockyer will become a core part of a promotion winning team at this level but time will tell. Brown was certainly a key player in a Pompey team that didn't have the quality to get over the finish line.

Highest paid player in the squad along with Locks, he’s on mega bucks. All part of the previous manager myth of no budget, he sparked what he had on crap. We have to pay final instalment to Shews of £150k this summer for Payne All this detailed knowledge of players salaries, their contract negotiations as well as details about sell on clauses. Remind me again which position you hold at the club?

Peterborough are the club that seems to be the clever ones in league one as they always sign cheap talented players and sell for the best price after they’ve made it successfully in this league...and the club shows a profit at the end of year not like us at 3 million in debt

I would very suprised if Peterbourgh arent paying much larger wages then us.They have a decent ground as well but are not a bigger club then us due to its fanbase size.

I’m told we are about to sign a foreign player who has been a target of ours for while. If it comes off BlueButterFly we will see, he’s about 6ft 6 and bold. Again my source might be wide of the mark, let’s see June 1st when all contracts end.

I'm glad he's bold. No shrinking violets for GC.

Yes and like I said my source could be well wide of the mark so I’m not saying anymore.

I have to say Pompey seem very shrewd when it comes to the transfer market. Not that difficult when you can afford decent wages. You save on transfer fees by waiting for good OOC players. Then you can pay them good wages / golden hellos - it's like the opposite of a vicious circle. However, they were in lge 2 for ages & even this season didn't REALLY get that close to promotion, so it's hardly a super set up they have.

Im willing to give unheard of players a chance to shine

We can't compete with Peterborough, they probably have a great reputation given how their conference signings usually go on to play at a higher level and their proximity to the midlands and London gives them a good catchment area for players to move on without too much up-rooting. If you were the top conference player and you had Rovers or Peterborough after you which one would you sign for?

If you were the top conference player and you had Rovers or Peterborough after you which one would you sign for? wrong place to ask that question mate - I’d turn down Man City for the Gas but I’m nuts and know it! Did I grow up dreaming of playing for Man City and earning 200k a week - no! I’d take £600 a week to play for the gas! It would mean so much more! You can’t take money with you and look at the people with it? No thanks!

If you were the top conference player and you had Rovers or Peterborough after you which one would you sign for? Not sure that’s true. We could point to Taylor, Bodin, Harrison and others and tell them come here, you will play and then you will improve yourself and move on. For as many Posh players that move on I’m sure there are some who don’t. Yes they’ve done well but not sure they are the answer we should look at. UTG!
