We were relegated because we didn't score enough goals last season, and this season a lack of goals will stop us getting promoted. Is it time for a new strikers coach? No sign of improvement since he's been the coach!

Hes the assistant manager. He got promoted on the strength of what he did last season, didn't he ?

Marcus & Steve Yates appear to be the most active of our bench (including the manager) on matchdays!

Surely our 9 game unbeaten run only started when MS & YS took a bigger part from the bench? MS, like DC last season, can only work with the player's he's given by the manager/BoD, anyway can he be really blamed because Taylor simply can't score from open play?

Exactly! besides, it's Marcus's fault that Taylor blasted a 1-on-1 into orbit..

Our finishing last season and so far this season has been very poor. Players have been changed but we still look clueless in the box. I accept the players aren't great, but surely we should at least be seeing some sign of improvement to technique or composure, but it seems to be getting worse!

He is a 5th tier Player playing for a 5th tier team, what do you expect ??

No, you don't expect them all to go in but he should at least show a bit of composure on a few.

Not sure you could blame Marcus for that though especially when he spends a lot of his time travelling around scouting out our opponents. That hasn't worked out too badly so far really has it. Pretty sure he does more than shooting practice with the so say pros.

Still plenty in denial at what we now are, i think we'll get another striker but i don't know what some are expecting, and in truth the quality we can afford and will want to come here is likely to be similar to what we've already got. Taylor could still come good i think and let's be honest his hard work is a fine testimony to the lads effort, Ellis is a game changer and exciting going forward option but he won't bang the goals in regularly for you either, White now needs a run i think purely cause he was signed to score goals, Jamie L isn't quite ready he's doing well at WSM and still needs building up and confidence, and Brunty is out of favour for some reason cause he's totally fit. Which leaves....Balanta , that's the joker in the pack, if he's fit and fulfills any of his potential he could be the difference

Out of interest how many games as Ellis "changed" this season?
Looking back at the match highlights it's hard to understand how 5 players failed to even hit the target from clear cut chances, Taylor's effort seems to be closer to the corner flag than the goal!!!

Ellis is frustrating for me as everytime he is near the ball, there is this little bit of excitement inside me and 99% of the time nothing ends up coming of it. He has all the attributes to me a very good player, just needs the brain to go with it!

I see where you're coming from there Topper, I think more than anything Ellis "Worries" the opposition which pushes them back deeper, they are threatened by him, he runs at them and buys us fouls/free kicks in areas we need. He's by no means the finished article yet. The most important thing he's done this season is basically get us out of our awful start with his 2 strikes, and without his late goals our manager was literally dead man walking.

Firstly, he was never a 'strikers coach'. Being an ex-striker doesn't mean he automatically coaches strikers. He was development coach, helping bridge the youths to the full group. Now he's assistment manager.
None of us really know what they do on the training ground, realistically. He could have nothing to do with the strikers. He could mainly be putting out the cones for all we know. You can mainly judge him under how the players directly were, in terms of development, which is what he was doing last year, I'd say he probably did quite a good job in helping out Ollie Clarke and Tom Lockyer to come through and establish themselves as players.

Paul Buckle would be pleased how low our expectations have dropped! We don't even expect our strikers to hit the target now let alone score!

I think our expectations have risen to be honest, it's just that we need to have a clear head about it otherwise we all want different things.... for me it's a top 5 finish, that's all, I don't care how we go about it, and i'm confident we'll get it....
