You are right in that title Henbury! Football is, as is life in general all about creating memories that you will remember forever! They are above us and have been for 18 old years, got a better stadium etc..etc But the two biggest and most important Bristol derby victorys have both been won my the Gas....This game to win the championship in 1990 and the Lambert goal - JPT area final game that set us up to a national final after beating our local rivial. |

The end of the 1989-1990 season is one which you couldn't have scripted better.
Even if we had been in the same division as the teds in recent times, it's very unlikely that you would ever have a season end like that again.
I was only a kid in the grandstand but remember that and the following Blackpool away game like it was yesterday.

Even better, they only won promotion because Notts County slipped up. Bit of an anticlimax.
City friend told me after the Blackpool game that during the match, rumours went round Ashton Gate that Blackpool were winning (they could have still pipped us to the title) and only those with radios knew for sure. Those were the days😎

The only night better than this was the night my first son was born a year before,always think about it when at twerton,laughing to myself about the Sh1!heads losing it at two nil, priceless.

That’s why I had a ticket. Am I wrong? Totally correct, originally due to be played in January IIRC when City were winning everything and we went through a bad spell. The match day programme was the original one (why waste it as we had no money) with a wrap around showing our latest team photo with Saunders, Kelly and Bloomer and less Martyn and Penrice. Still got it in the attic. |

Football doesn't get a lot better than this. Will remember it till my dying day. After this I didn't have the slightest doubt we'd beat Blackpool, it was just about turning up there to celebrate and wait for us to score.
It's almost worth suffering these years below them just knowing we'll always have this over them.

What was the best about full time was we all ran to the middle and celebrated and completely ignored the city fans who were baiting blood.
