How many players are guaranteed to be in our best XI every week? Can't think of too many at the moment. Perhaps our new skipper has yet to arrive? OC getting a lot of mentions but if we go 4-4-2 is he a guaranteed starter ahead of Upson and AO? As for TC will he be the same player this season? I’d guess that when fit, Little, THD, Ogogo & JCH will start most matches. Other than that, couldn’t confidently call too many other positions atm. Rodman probably has RW tied down too, I’d imagine.

I know it is unusual for a new signing to be captain but I think Tom Davies sounds like a leader. When I asked my Coventry mate what he was like his exact response was “sh*thouse Brexit centre half who heads everything. Won’t win your player of the season awards but a good solid signing”.
Sounds like a potential future skipper to me.

Perhaps because you are wrong Hugo. You are entitled to your opinion though. Craig has all the qualities to be captain next season and if we manage to get a big centre half in to play alongside him it will be a formidable defence even though Tom Lockyer will be greatly missed. Lockyer won't be missed and your mate Craig is crap.

What's a Banned word Brexit centre half? How do politics come into being a good/bad defender?

Need to wait until we see who his first team are. I’d say Tony Craig is the most likely though Ollie C, especially without any new central midfielders coming in yet may be in with a shout. UTG!

What's a Banned word Brexit centre half? How do politics come into being a good/bad defender? Divides opinion maybe? Personally I think captains in football are more symbolic as we should have several players who can lead by example. For that reason I would go for Ollie C as someone who has been with us through the dark days of the Conference.

Got to be big Tone under rated on here but mainstay of the defence for me

Millwall Tone - all day long. He looks like a natural leader. He was more vocal than TL last year and (from what I could see) was doing most the defensive organising. Solid if unspectacular. Happy to hit row Z when the time is right. He would be my choice as captain.

Just seen the teaser. Can’t work out if it’s OC or TC, everyone saying OC though.

Coughlan told me today it’s OC.
I actually said I thought it would be TC, he said it was never in doubt always OC “he wears his heart on his sleeve, he’s an absolute pro”

Ollie is a captain in a similar way to Lockyer. A model pro who will never let you down and leads by example but is never going to be a Tony Adams / Roy Keane classic captain type.

You can have different types of captain though - doesn’t always have to be the loudest or most talkative on the pitch etc. And wasn’t Coughlan captain of Plymouth and/or Sheffield Wednesday? If so then I’m sure he knows what makes a good captain. Anyway, I think we place far too much importance on captains in this country in general. If the armband is given to OC then it doesn’t mean Craig will be any less vocal than he already is. Ideally you need a number of leaders on the pitch, regardless of who’s wearing the armband.

What's a Banned word Brexit centre half? How do politics come into being a good/bad defender? It means he’ll take us out of the cups and the league and almost bankrupt us .
