Unbelievable decision but if it brings consistency to his game then maybe it could turn out to be a good decision but my feeling was that we would be bringing in a quality midfielder which would mean fewer games for Ollie. I always felt that Lockyer was a poor choice and this decision is on par with it. I like a captain who is vocal and leads the team. Ollie for me does neither but there are far more important decisions to be made before the season starts because at the moment with the squad we have its another relegation fight on our hands BUT its still early days and for me the next three weeks transfer dealings will decide our season. If he keeps banging 10+ Goals a season i don't hive a flying F##k if he is the captain or not Well done Ollie you deserve it I guess that depends on whether you consider an ACM should be scoring goals or creating them for the strikers, I assume this that means that the usual starting central midfield pairing will be OC & Ogogo, a pairing which has virtually zero creativity. Lets hope we sign a quality winger or I sense it's going to be another long season at the Mem watching teams like Shrewsbury & Wycombe shut us out because we can't break them down.

Excellent news, well done Ollie. Not sure why but this feels like our year, start that bus now.

Great decision. Knows the club inside out, bleeds blue and white and would run through a brick wall for the cause. I disagree about him lacking creativity. He can definitely spot a pass. He delivered some very good through balls last year which were more often than not, chances squandered. When fit and firing he’s a good all-round midfielder.

Pleased that Ollie has been made club captain. Now that Lines has left, OC is probably the one player that connects with the fanbase the most being "one of our own". Next year is a really big one for him to prove he can step up to the plate and lead by example and I'm fully confident that he can do it.

What people forget is that it isn't his job to fire pin point passes across the pitch, it's to defend.

That's doing a dis-service to Ollie. And to the rest of the squad.

I agree. He has already been here for years, played 200 plus games for us,won two promotions and was apart of that mansfield game.He is the last one of our golden era from DC's time.He is a Bristol boy,and a gashead and loves the club. Not a knock at his game but Ollie is still only 27 but I dont think he has the talent to play in the premier so I guess wont be pushing for a move away like others have.I think he could develop into a championship player tho.So he could be our club captain if he does not get injured for the next 5-10 years like in the old days which makes this appointment special itself. Well done to OC.

Personally I feel Ollie is our best midfielder, and he does give 100% week in, week out. Is he a Premier League player in waiting? No, of course not, but plenty good enough for a third tier side. My choice might have been Big Tone, but I'm happy to see Ollie given the armband. Big Tone will be a leader anyway, armband or not. More importantly though, with Ollie almost certain to start and Ogogo being the only midfielder brought in by GC, they will surely be the two centre midfielders. Plenty of heart and effort, but no creativity. Even more than a striker, I think we desperately need that creative type of player and he has to be central where he can dictate a game. Wingers are creative but flit in and out of games too much to plug our current gap. I was hoping that last years style of play was out of necessity.

No brainer for me once Locks departed. However, why did we have to have a stupid video teasing who it might be. Alright for signings, but leave it at that. Best Regards, Victor Meldrew.

Ollie Clarke now confirmed. Tong Craig led the team out in the first half at Yate today wearing the EFL Captain's arm band. Didn't see Ollie Clarke wearing it when he came on in the second half and Craig didn't appear for the second half. Did Tony have a meltdown and hide it?? lol

I like ollie when he tackles opponents and when he drives forward as he has a great shot on him but i wish he could learn to execute the simple 5 yard pass to a blue shirt, for me its a big weakness in his game.
