What that poxy excuse for a managers office, down the tunnel, that was a suture room for the rugby? Doubt DC was even in there.

I thought they both lived in Bristol? Car share, and footballers don't have to commute both ways in rush hour like us mere mortals. I thought Sinclair lived in Stroud? Topper said Wiltshire - so that rules out Stroud. I thought that somebody on here said that Sinclair lived in Thornbury?

People have a laugh at say walsall's 3,500 gates but plenty of clubs can have a good laugh at our 8,300 crowds. Dc had one good season and an average one in league one before it all went pear shaped. Do they not count? If you read my post properly you will see my final sentence thanked him for the good times. Most people would consider that included the seasons to which you refer. You said "league 2 was his level" but he has clearly proved himself in league one. Also 2 successive promotions create a big challenge for any manager but he dealt with it very well. Until it went wrong of course a long time after.

I'm constantly stunned that so few people seem concerned re: The Colony. That the last we heard about the massive site we brought in Almondsbury was 18 (eighteen) months ago. Must be doing the survey with a quill. Failed planning app for 20+ acres of housing (did not get past initial talks), bad advice from our "planning consultants" now left to rot Nothing will ever happen and will be land banked until planning rules change Did this get announced?

Do they not count? Yes, but that's club with 12,000/15,000+ not 3,500, it really is a strange move by DC, rant about our owners lack of progress with the stadium etc then join a smaller club notorious for having an owner with zero ambition. Just like many of our fans to varying degrees dc felt let down by the owners. His stock has naturally fallen and he needs a job. Championship clubs and even barnsley are tending to look abroad so jobs in league football are scarce. Wallsall are usually in league one and their ambition is to return there.

Strictly speaking, it isn’t a failed planning application as no planning application was made. Pre-planning enquiries are not made public unless the enquirer chooses to do so. Pretty ropey planning consultants if they said you could get housing in the green belt without exceptional circumstances. I think Henbury has a contact in South Glos planning.

Good luck to DC. Walsall, good club and they look well run, making the most of what they’ve got. Their fans, like most who get relegated are mightily jarred off with the owner at the moment. Hope he does well. Now, let’s get back to talking about Rovers not Walsall. UTG!

Hi all. Walsall fan here. Few things... First, very excited after reading Bristol Rovers fans’ thoughts about DC. Seems like he will go down very well. Second, the fans here backed Keates to the hilt - he’s a club legend and he received no chants for him to be relieved of his job at any point. Third, remind me who has spent the most time in the championship in the last generation of our two good sides? We are a club around giants, and we have seen our attendances hit greatly over the last ten years - but this is more to do with our owner who is a leech. Good luck for next season! We are all very excited... I think!

We have one wealthier neighbour, who doesn't like to cooperate with us, and the general feeling is that we don't have any nearby sources of cast-offs and loans, etc, to help us, and it's hard to get players to come down here. So basically, the question is, I suppose, do you get in many useful players who don't quite make it at Villa and WBA, etc?

We also had a nice business model under Dean Smith, where we would take young, released players from local clubs’ development squads and build them up. Jon Whitney completely messed things up - but that’s what you get when you employ a physio as manager for two years. Oh well! I was quite despondent at the end of the season - but I am quite surprised they have manager to get someone in who seems quite positive!

Hi Walsall fan.
I was surprised DC chose Walsall, I kinda expected him to go for Plymouth or a L1 club. It’s a bit of a safe appointment for him. Top 7 will be the target and he should easily achieve that with you.
He is a great appointment for you and you will sign a few players you will question but he will coach them to fight for your badge and give everything. A few of those players will turn out to be gems. Some of his large recruitment for fees is usually questionable tho. His best signings turned out to be frees or £50k players. He also wasn’t afraid to coach and play an academy product either.
If you take to DC as fans I can promise you he will engage with you and take you on a great journey.
I’ve watched the gas under some good managers like Gerry Francis, John Ward (first time around) and Ian Holloway but the unity of fans and some of the football played with fight was some of the best I’ve ever seen.
The only thing that makes my skin crawl a little bit is seeing DC draped in red and white.

FM2019 called it. After I chose Rovers I looked out to see who DC would go to. He went to Walsall mid-way through the first season so I should of put a bet on it Ha

I am quite hyped to see what he does in the market. I am not too fussed about him signing players for fees - as we never ever sign anyone for proper fees. I am seeing a lot of links already to Sinclair and Lines. I, of course, have noticed Sinclair before... but only remember his footballing attributes as a bit of a terrier, and a bit of diver but I would take him easily!

Sinclair is one of the hardest-working players I've seen in a rovers shirt and it wouldn't surprise me at all if DC punts for him as he's managed him at us and also before us at Salisbury.

Sincs is definitely DC’s man so it seems obvious he will go there. Lines’ return to us was more to do with his previous links to the club under the same owner, so it’s not so clear-cut. It’s also uncertain how DC’s working relationship was with Lines at the end of his time here, given that it quickly disintegrated under DC. He would be a very good signing for Walsall, in my opinion, for all that he is clearly not a straightforward character.

I thought Sinclair lived in Stroud? Topper said Wiltshire - so that rules out Stroud. I thought that somebody on here said that Sinclair lived in Thornbury? His work in the community, he’s here, there & everywhere. I miss the beard, that’s all

Mine was just a guess, I've no idea where he lives, even if it's Thornbury now it could be just a rented house, until I never checked I never realised he was born in Bedfordshire, although I guess that explains why he was released by Luton when he was a youngster!

Good luck to DC in his new posting. Am sure he will make a great success of it and will be just what Walsall and their fans need.
Like others on here am missing DC

A Walsall fan told me that three of our players were at Walsall discussing terms before DCs appointment was even announced. Sinclair, Lines and one other. Probably Leads

Rovers want to keep James Clarke, but he is yet to agree a new deal at the Memorial Stadium.
This season saw him make the most amount of appearances yet in a campaign for the Gas, and he generally impressed at right-back.
Yet he has close links to Darrell Clarke, who he first played under at Salisbury City in 2012. Darrell Clarke then took him to Rovers in 2015, giving him his first opportunity in the EFL.
With Rovers wanting to keep hold of the 29-year-old, it is difficult to see him dropping down a division to Walsall, but the lure of a reunion with Darrell Clarke could be tempting.
