Ah but this is football, players must be loyal and they cant get bored in the same team. What's the issue with a player being loyal? Bristol Rovers have been as good for Tom Lockyer as Tom Lockyer has been for Bristol Rovers. Comments from the club captain expressing his desire to have got away sooner just seems petty and unnecessary at this point. The club deserve more respect. Did you listen to the interview?

Wish Tom well but, 'couldn't get out earlier for whatever reason' eight years too long? not long enough to learn the art of distribution and passing to a team mate! is it a given that he will go away with Wales this summer? think Tom has had his head turned by Taylor,Billy Boy,and Ellis and the contracts they got, none of whom have set championship alight to say the least, though injuries could have played a part with the latter 2, however money talks and i suppose a man has to do what he can to get the best deal, as i said good luck and thank you Tom but not irreplaceable .have not heard the other two winging yet and dont particularly want to , both served us well but it was time to move on and GC made the right call in my opinion. If id have been manager and knew that's how Lockyer felt, Alfie Kilgour would have a lot more gas games under his belt by now. Coincides with his best mate Harrison moving up a level...

Tom Lockyer came across arrogant to me. I’m not sure he’s even a good L1 centre half. Maybe he will go Walsall. Won’t miss our straight from kick off pass to Tom Lockyer who thumps it out for a throw in.

Couldn't get out earlier because no one would have wanted you. Now after 8 years you have finally put a few performances in, and in turn some clubs are sniffing around. Just think, if you had put the effort in for 8 years, you could have fu(ked off sooner!!! I don’t think his commitment and effort on the pitch can be questioned. That’s just my opinion.

perhaps people have just misconstrued his meaning. I mean it wouldnt be like football fans to over react would it.
Bloke gave his all for us. Even game back and played 24 hours after being away with Wales. Ah but f**k him because he said something some dont particularly like.
TL probably felt he needed a career move like any ordinary person might. But then most ordinary people dont have a few thousand analysisng every sh** they take

We'd do well to remember what these three have all done for us, regardless of a few words on a local radio interview

He's been a very good servant to a club which gave him his chance. Still think some people are taking his comments out of context. He is trying to be honest and giving his side, when he could easily have left and said nothing and probably got a better thanks for it. Tom ran through proverbial brick walls for us and helped pull us out of a sh** place we were. He probably feels his peformances could have earned him a move, but he had a contract anf he has honoured it. As I said in another thread, sometimes I think players should decline interviews as I dont think they can win either way

Why don't you just listen to the program instead of getting the odd quote out of context and then going off on one about it You what? I am asking what they said, where has it come across that I am going off on one ? Jeez

To Captain a team at a young age at a club expectant in th lower divisions like ours, 200 odd appearances, a relegation an 2 promotions an all that brings, while also gaining international caps..... Thomas Lockyer i take my hat off to you.
I think he's been a massive/if not the biggest asset this club has had thru last 5 years. I thank you, an wish you all th very best wherever you end up. I will miss you, an will follow your career with great interest. A Truly decent chap, disciplined, a 100%er an a real professional on an off th pitch - in fact a managers fucckin dream.
Good luck lad, you've earnt it.

Still love Lockyer to bits, but whilst listening I did think his comments came across as a bit conceited and ungrateful. He was lucky that we picked him up from Cardiff and had not the club not been in such the sorry state it was at the time, he wouldn't be here today on almost 300 senior appearances.
Edit: Also the 5 international caps. Maybe that's the problem with players whom have little to no previous affiliation with the club unlike those such as Ollie Clarke and Chris Lines?

Just listening to everyone else, going off on Locks for an out of context quote, when it is obvious how much he loves the club from the rest of the interview. Nothing to do with you. My apologies. It was a really decent interview, by the way.

Could never question toms commitment. Rovers will always have a place in his heart. He wants a bigger/more ambitious club. Best of luck to all 3

Sooooooooo what did Lines and Sincs say? Or did they have gaffa tape on their mouths? Best gas player played with Lines .. Lambert for his volley from the centre circle vs Luton Sincs .. bodin, I did all the running for him. Then passed him the ball and he did the rest .. Lines said yeah then got to his celebration first .

Haven’t listened yet (about to) but I agree with Locks from those quotes - he was here two years too long. Any international player for a respectable nation (and even the Welsh are just about that!) should probably be playing higher than a low L1 team. He’s proved this season too that he’s one of the better CBs in the league so it’s hardly surprising he’s got four Championship clubs coming at him with admiring glances.
Loyal servant throughout the past eight years and a solid club captain that stayed with us when we were at our lowest ebb and then helped us to back-to-back promotions and third tier consolidation.
If some on here are offended or upset by his comments then fine, that’s your right. I say good luck to you Tom, you’ve earned it. You owe us nothing!

Just listened and thought it was a cracking interview.
Lovely to hear them all reminiscing on the good times under DC and it’s clear that all three lads have had the time of their lives wearing the quarters.
Wish them every success with their future careers.

An emotional listen. Thanks to all three for the memories. Gone but not forgotten. I wish them all the very best for the future.
