They might finish the scoreboard and will get the yellow lines in the gangway painted, but what else is happening at the Mem?
I heard the whole pitch is being re- turfed. Not sure why as it will probably cost £50k - seed, staff wages, extra water, heat lamps and consultant fees. Surely the pitch is good enough, it just needs attention to a few patches?
There is the Legends games and the Murder Mystery, but I haven't heard about anything else.
Last year City allegedly made around £30k in bar rrevenue, plus massive publicity during the World Cup and Rovers .........didn't bother.
Surely the Champions League and Nations League should be shown, to try and get some bar money?
I'm sure they could get Whhosh and 20man in for the European final. (Would be good to get Gary Mabbutt, Rickie Lambert, Wally Walters and John Scales mind!)
Why not car boot sales, or other uses for the car park. I'm sure in Holtby's day the car park was available for international games at the cricket. Car parking spaces are like gold dust there. I have not heard that this is an option this time.
We keep.missing a trick.
They say stadiums should be used 24/7. Unfortunately it seems our club seems to think that means 24 hours use in 7 months.

I have not heard that this is an option this time. Excellent idea. There are at least 12 international matches of different status at Nevil Road this summer. £10 per car for a day's supervised parking should bring in a fair amount.

Is there any reason we can’t set up some kind of park & ride from our car park?
I don’t just mean during the summer, I mean Monday-Friday for the entire year. Surely we could charge cars £2/3 for such a service?
A fairly secure car park and very close to the city centre... sounds ideal. I’m guessing it’s not doable for some reason though?

Park and Ride is a Local Authority scheme. The council would want in. Not a bad location I agree but the health and safety of separating pedestrians and buses/having separate entrance/egress routes would make it a no goer I reckon.

And I’m sure if this were doable there’d be plenty of clubs up and down the country using their car park in this way - but I don’t know of one that does... I’ll get back to the drawing board.

We really getting the pitch relayed again?
It’s been immaculate this season and our ground staff have won awards for it.

All those fumes, whilst there riding there bikes, to save the planet conventions.

The call of using the car park for Cricket is top drawer .. incredible that no one at the football club is on to that ... then again maybe they are ... then again ......

The clubhouse bars were DUE to be re-fitted but this was not started until after the WC.
Anyway, there were still several other bars including the Dribuild, Guinness suite and Denis Dunford Bar and private exec boxes that were still available.
Another astonishingly bad decision.
I hope (but doubt) that the club are looking into arranging for at least temporary bars for the big games near the away end.
With the big clubs that will stay in this division, and the big clubs coming down some localish clubs coming up (plus possible cup games) we could earn large amounts of away bar money next season.
I'm sure the police would rather confine away fans inside the stadium area rather than drinking down Glos Rd, so would probably give their approval.
In all honesty, what do some of the background staff do? City have tattoo conventions, wedding fayres, concerts. I know we can't compete but you would think we could undercut them to get business and at least do something (along the lines of small local clubs - big games on the big screen, cider festivals, student band gigs etc, but we don't seem to do much at all.

Any return on this investment?
