I think you're reading far too much into it. Wael had a chance to have his photo taken next to Will Smith and posted it. I would, you would, we all would. That's all it is. I wouldn't. I bloody hate treating 'celebrities' like they're something special. They're not, but they think they are because of cringeworthy antics like Wael's. It makes us look small and a bit pathetic, which we probably are, but there's no need to broadcast it. So you wouldn't take the opportunity to have a photo of you next to Jennifer Anniston, Katy Perry etc and then post a picture of it? Small and pathetic. Maybe that's just the way you resent sucess and being in the public eye. It was just a picture.

Wtf is Waq up to? I can imagine Will Smith was really embarrassed being presented with a shirt, from someone he has probably only just bumped into the foyer of a hotel, joke. He didn't look embarrassed.

This thread certainly highlights the fact that there are some sad, and pathetic individuals that 'support' this club. Enjoy your lives of endless misery, and wasting your time 'fuming' over the most trivial of things! #UTG

I said *sponsor*, an investor is a different kettle of fish- if they can smell money to be made then Wael's antics aren't going to stop them although any serious investor will probably want Wael removed because of things like this.. A sponsor on the other hand has their own brand to consider and if they are selling something professional themselves they probably don't want a clown who can't take his own brand seriously to be associated with them, I know I wouldn't. The classic example is BMW who, allegedly, want nothing to do with Rovers even though it would (from our point of view at least) be a brilliant tie-in. Even if we had a somewhat decent stadium as soon as BMW see nonsense like this from our president they would be reaching for the eject button. But then I've probably got ahead of myself by talking about professional companies sponsoring Rovers - why the hell would they look at us in the first place?! I think you're reading far too much into it. Wael had a chance to have his photo taken next to Will Smith and posted it. I would, you would, we all would. That's all it is. Oh totally - if it's just some geezer taking a photo opp then yeah we all would. I would have no problem if Wael was just like "Hey, I met Will Smith last night" (as long as it's a spare time thing and he isn't representing the club). The issue comes with him having a custom made shirt (not even just a normal shirt that he whipped off and got Will Smith to hold up) because then he is suddenly on 'company time' representing the club. Until I hear otherwise I assume he is not in Will Smith's inner circle so he has got a shirt made up *on the off chance* (and that really is near the crux of it) he could get a photo. If the likes of you or I did that we would be mentioned as being slightly stalker-ish, when it's the President of the club it makes it even worse, not better. It's bordering on the autistic spectrum in terms of misunderstanding social cues and personal boundaries. And okay, if it results in bigger attendances as the Hollywood influencers all fly in in helicopters and private jets and shirt sales go through the roof in the hollywood area then I suppose the club's dignity is a price worth paying. But it really won't, at all. It's just given C*** even more reason to think of us as the gift that just keeps giving. We can't help ourselves but shoot ourselves in the foot just when we think we have got on a more professional footing.

Probably made a point of welcoming Mr Smith to the gaff and promising him a nice stay. Btw can i get a photo. No big deal, issue or anything else

Re-read my reply to this this morning, came across as being a tad nasty, didn't mean for it to come across like that, sorry.

It is simply a gesture, ans who knows our shirts could become a fashion item in America. Anyway does it really matter? Absolutely NOT

Absolutely NOT I am not sure if 'Rovers aims should include for our shirts to be a fashion item in America when it is yet to be that in the UK, and as for 'a gesture' we need more than 'a gesture' like a new stadium and training ground, not to mention a successful football team.

We have come from being in Bath with No assets to being in Bristol with the Mem. That too 30 odd years, a new stadium will be here in ten

The fact is that he could have just had his own photo will Will Smith and none of us would have been any the wiser. He chose to have his picture taken with a Gas Shirt - no big deal. And as many businessmen would say any publicity is good publicity.....

I have come across a few celebrities and I leave them alone as, unless they directly talk to me, I think they need their private moments. The only one I’ve had a chance to talk with was Peter Gabriel as we we at a till , next to each other. Oh, I’ve spoken with Ollie but also give him privacy when shopping in a pet food store. I imagine they can feel quite agitated by strangers going to talk with them. I know it’s part & parcel of being famous and I have no idea of the back story here. I just think it’s a bit kitsch is all.

I believe the back story is Will Smith was in a hotel, possibly owned by the Al Qadi family, Wael had a photo taken of them together with Will Smith being given a Rovers shirt with his name on it. I shall no doubt be doing the same in Mallorca shortly.
