Bolton have now been put into administration, this will mean a 12 point deduction. So we will start 12 points clear of them at the beginning of the season

They'll be alright as long as they get the new owner in. Big club at this level and will always attract decent league 1 players. Still wouldn't rule them out for top 6/playoff push

Likely to be a further points deduction for failing to fulfil home fixture vs Brentford...our ST sales should be an easy sell by comparison.

Can't see any of the Relegated sides running away with it, especially when you consider 2 from charlton/pompey/Sunderland will still be down here

In recent times they have been too crap for the championship, too good for league one. Hopefully this points deduction will stop the typical loss of an automatic place when Bolton are in league one.

I might be wrong, but I think they can walk away on free's if they go 3 or 4 consecutive months unpaid.

I think you're right and I'm sure I've heard that a couple of already exercised their right and handed in their notice.

Imo -12 points is a joke.
Failure to pay player wages, failure to complete agreed transfers and failure to even play a league match!
For me, they should’ve been kicked out of the league all together. Not fair on the fans I know but the FA can’t keep allowing these ridiculously unqualified owners to control clubs and just like Bury, I believe there should be much bigger punishments for spending beyond your means or the means of your owners.

Agree. Going into admin is a 12 point deduction. They may get more deductions for failing to fulfil fixture. They could end up even worse off. UTG!

You can guarantee that they’ll start splashing the cash before the season starts when someone takes over. I remember when Southampton dropped down to league one and started on -10 points. Despite this, they were still able to throw ridiculous money about for league one, including 1m for Lambert. I think they will be an attractive purchase for someone with a bit of dosh.

Still wouldn't rule them out for top 6/playoff push Usually I would agree, but given the reality of players not being paid for months on-end at both Bolton and Bury, I can see a lot of pros telling their mates to stay well clear of either next season.

I’m not sure I agree with kicking them out. As a supporter I’m not sure how’d feel about losing my club through not fault of my own but a crazy owner. The FA and EFL have to take a really good long hard look at themselves and ask them if they’ve done enough about protecting clubs and the process for changing ownership so not every man and his dog can take over.

I agree. I think they should have been kicked out of the league for what they did to FGR. No club should be able to get away with that. Kick em out. Conference North is the level I would send them back to.

Great news - at least we won't be bottom until four games in!

I wonder if the bookies will take a bet this early from me that Bristol Rovers won't actually occupy 24th place in league one at any point next season.
