This is a disaster for Bolton.
They have a dismal future ahead of not paying their debts and getting promoted quite soon, like all the other clubs who treat administration as a get out of jail free card.

Imo -12 points is a joke. Failure to pay player wages, failure to complete agreed transfers and failure to even play a league match! For me, they should’ve been kicked out of the league all together. Not fair on the fans I know but the FA can’t keep allowing these ridiculously unqualified owners to control clubs and just like Bury, I believe there should be much bigger punishments for spending beyond your means or the means of your owners. I agree. I think they should have been kicked out of the league for what they did to FGR. No club should be able to get away with that. Kick em out. Conference North is the level I would send them back to. Doubt the Conference North would have them. They have stricter rules than the EFL.

I might be wrong, but I think they can walk away on free's if they go 3 or 4 consecutive months unpaid.
I think you're right and I'm sure I've heard that a couple of already exercised their right and handed in their notice. Good grief, imagine not being paid for four months and still having to work for the same people unable to get a new job.

Top 6 maybe but I doubt they'll be run away leaders like we've had in previous season's, I also wonder what will happen to their contracted players, can they all leave on free transfers as they are not being paid, meaning they'll have to start afresh with a completely new side.

Article 13 of FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (“the RSTP”) provides that a contract between a player and a club can only be terminated on expiry of the term of the contract or by mutual agreement. However, Article 14 of the RSTP allows for a contract to be terminated without any consequences “where there is just cause.” FIFAs RSTP regulation updated 2018 states: Art. 14bis Terminating a contract with just cause for outstanding salaries 1. In the case of a club unlawfully failing to pay a player at least two monthly salaries on their due dates, the player will be deemed to have a just cause to terminate his contract, provided that he has put the debtor club in default in writing and has granted a deadline of at least 15 days for the debtor club to fully comply with its financial obligation(s). Alternative provisions in contracts existing at the time of this provision coming into force may be considered. 2. For any salaries of a player which are not due on a monthly basis, the pro-rata value corresponding to two months shall be considered. Delayed payment of an amount which is equal to at least two months shall also be deemed a just cause for the player to terminate his contract, subject to him complying with the notice of termination as per paragraph 1 above. 3. Collective bargaining agreements validly negotiated by employers' and employees' representatives at domestic level in accordance with national law may deviate from the principles stipulated in paragraphs 1 and 2 above. The terms of such an agreement shall prevail. Coo its right interesting.

I’m not sure I agree with kicking them out. As a supporter I’m not sure how’d feel about losing my club through not fault of my own but a crazy owner. The FA and EFL have to take a really good long hard look at themselves and ask them if they’ve done enough about protecting clubs and the process for changing ownership so not every man and his dog can take over. Depends doesnt it. There are always some fans demanding more money be spent

In Germany, every season, a club has to submit their financial details to the football authorities to enable the club to be granted a licence allowing them to play. If a club's debt's get too much, the club is demoted down to a division that they can afford to play in. I've mentioned on here before how my local club were demoted to the Regional League because they had debts of 6 million Euro! It wasn't so long ago they were playing in the German equivalent of the Championship ! The answer is to bring the clubs to heel before the debts get too big.

Is league 2 big enough to accept all the badly run clubs from league 1 ?

Germany football seems to have been dominated by one club for decades, not sure they have the prefect model any more than we do.

I'm not saying it's perfect, but they do stamp down on clubs going into debt. It has been said on here that Bolton are too big a club to be demoted to the National league. Well, they only became such a 'big club' due to the debts that they have built up. So, in effect, it is said that they cannot be punished properly because their debts are too big? So the message being given is 'carry on and spend'.

I bet their fans weren’t complaining when they were racking up debt in the Prem.

The EFL rules are clear, a 12pts reduction for going into Admin, you can't suddenly change the rules because Bolton's debts appear worse than an other club's. If they did change the rules there's of course always the risk it's Rovers who are the first to get demoted out of the league given that w/o the ALQ's support we're probably now insolvent.

As suggested on here before it looks like Bolton maybe docked an additional 6 points( I will leave you to do the Maths😂😁).But I agree still not enough punishment, it's not just about their fans but the creditors, small companies supplying them could struggle financially while this lot carry on. League needs to get tougher. It is a bit like the big nationalised companies back in the 70's being substadised by the tax payer, until you get tough things will carry on the same, and owners will get away with waisting away other people money.

I'm sure they could get done for a lot more than 12 points, under the rules.

Agree to a certain extend but say Wael called in his debts and we went into admin we’d have no one to blame but those who sold the club to him and us as fans (so many are passive and accept the current situation). It’s only my opinion but I’d 100x rather be a community or fan run club like Exeter, spending within our means, and competing at a lower level, than be owned by some millionaire with no affinity with the club or desire to take it forward.

I think you're correct as I'm sure I've seen this happen previously but I think that was with Chester and the rules may have ofcourse changed as that was a fair few years ago, although I know some players have clauses in their contracts that if they're even missed 1 or 2 payments then they can leave on a free.
