Wael said at the sponsors night he intends to build the team around him not sell the prize asset Wael can talk the talk but can he walk the walk? Nothing Wael says means anything. A nice man but full of empty promises as far as Bristol Rovers are concerned.

I think they would sell for anything 500k upwards. They won’t turn their noses up at a payday. We are still very much a selling club and nothing in our recent history tells me they will hold out for a proper price.

We are still very much a selling club and nothing in our recent history tells me they will hold out for a proper price. The reason other clubs get more money for their players is because they reject the first few offers. Even if the player wants to move on. We just accept the first offer that comes in. Maybe now championship clubs see us as a soft touch so why pay 2 million for another top league one striker when you can have ours for 750k paid in installments over four years.

£500k at best None of this makes any difference in my opinion because we’re going nowhere while we got this board of directors, Keeping a striker for half a season doesn’t shock or upset me anymore nor how much we get, it’s all about the ground and training complex for rovers long term stability and success. With or without JCH it’s the bottom half of league one at best for us (and I’d love for someone to bring my post out to haunt me should we have a successful season next season )

Doesn't seem much in this story for me tbh.
He's probably being watched by a few scouts from various clubs due to the form he hit for us at that crucial stage last season but I'm sure any decent manager would want to see a bit of consistency before signing him.

Or if they are at a club with a limited budget they might have seen enough to take a chance before he scores more and his price goes up even further?

He's still going to be around the 1mil mark at least due to the time he has left on his contract so seems quite a big gamble to punt on a player that in all honesty has had 1 good half a season in his career to date.

Hope you're right but the principle still applies - if it was £1m now but he has 15 goals by Xmas then it might rise to £3m. That could take him from inside to outside the budget of quite a few championship clubs. just hope it's idle speculation and nobody is prepared to make an offer yet. Keeping him for the season could be the difference between another relegation fight or a comfortable mid table finish, saying that if we don't replace Lockyer well we will go down regardless.

I feel like whoever offers that money for Jono has got to be foolish enough to base their recruitment on half a season of, admittedly scintillating, form.
In my opinion, he isn't going anywhere this summer - wait and see how he does next season and January/summer 2020 we'll see him leave for a fee dependent on his performances next season.
He isn't the be-all and end-all though. He saved us this season but to stop us having to be saved next season I would gladly see us use any money gained to patch up the significant holes we have. Having said that, if we ship off Bennett and save significantly on Lines and Lockyer's wages I have no doubt we can use that to bring in decent players regardless of JCH staying or going.
Free Transfers have seen us well in the past, they'll see us well again.

If he's a free agent having run down a contract then obviously they have no right to insert any sell on clause in future contracts. However, I suspect since he was under contract when making the move to us there would still have been a transfer contract even if there was no fee meaning they could seek to impose any clauses they wished, which we'd obviously have to agree to and since we were desperate probably did!
