May be worth a punt if Bonham doesn't agree terms with us.
Just been released by Birmingham and isn't young at 37, even for a keeper, but would probably be a decent signing at League 1 level and at the stage in his career he's at we could probably afford his wages.

Any reason why? Apart from last season he was a first team Championship player and has been for the previous 7 seasons before that. He has played internationally and at a much higher level than League One for pretty much his whole career and at this stage of his career he may drop down to gain more regular playing time.

Or he may just be past it.

I hope we don’t slip back into the ethos of signing players on their way down the ladder. Although Jermaine Easter played his part. Great first touch that man.

Will be much cheaper, younger (and probably better) goalies available this summer.
Off the top of my head: Exeter No.1 just ran his contract down similar to Lockyer. Newport GK local ish and won’t be on much £. FGR GK see above.

If we sign this keeper we might as well get Jamie Cureton & Barry Hayles back too.

I'd rather us look at cheaper options looking to prove themselves higher up the FL ladder than older past-its looking for one last hurrah.

Blimey, I hope learnt something when we dropped out of the league. Sign players on their way up, not those looking for a contract on their way down. One or two ok but we’ve got those, we need more on their way up. UTG!

Ambitious players who want to improve should be the ethos for our transfer business. I want us to be signing players who see themselves playing in the division above in the next couple of years. Most of our signings in non league were players who wanted to make a step up and climb the divisions. Kuszczak might be a bit of a name but he’s not the answer. I’d sooner take a non-league prospect on lower wages who wants to improve.
