With the Woman's world cup just around the corner, will we be watching? The Woman's game has made great strides in recent years just a shame that Rovers from being one of the pioneers have been left behind, how did the move to the dark side happen?personally i am very impressed with pundits Sue Smith ,Alex Scott and the like but are not that enthusiastic about watching games, would be interesting to know the forums views , any lady members out there?

Had a great time at the Women's Euros 2 years ago in the Netherlands. Did four games in four day, unfortunately the distances in France make that near impossible. Did price up the sleeper ferry from Portsmouth to Le Harve for the England - Argentina game but it was silly prices. Should be a good tournament, England's group is a difficult one.

If you like football, then give watching women's football a try - you might like it!
It is football, after all, and the standard has risen massively over the last decade. Basically, it's like watching men's football, but with players who have really had to work to get to the top - it's only all professional in the very top division, below that it's semi-pro at best, so even at the top the women playing have almost all had experience of working a full time job while training for 4 hours four times a week, on top of games.
Less prima donnas, less playacting, respect between players and for the officials, less angry knobheads in the crowds, great, friendly atmosphere.
On top of that we have a Bristol Rovers Women team forming and starting out next season. They'll be starting in the Gloucestershire County League, but the lower number of women's clubs (and therefore divisions) means that they are only a few promotions away from National level. A great story to watch unfold.

I would watch the final if England were in it,but otherwise I find it difficult to watch. Which as a member of the "fairer sex" I should be more keen on the ladies game, but somehow it doesn't fit with me,I always compare it with the men's game so there is no contest. The goalies are usually rubbish!! I have nothing against women playing football(women playing rugby is hard to watch!)but for me I have little interest. Would be interesting on other female members thoughts. Tilly?

I enjoy the live matches they show on BBC on a Sunday afternoon, but to be honest if I had Sky Sports I would be watching the footie on there. Following Rovers is all I can manage live football wise, but will certainly watch some of the World Cup games.

Actually looking forward to watching some of it. I think the increased attention and coverage has been a good thing as well as the England team doing well to get people into it.
Might see If I can actually get the wife to watch some

Standard would need to improve massively before I pay an interest, judging by the televised games I've seen

I went to a number of games when the Women's World Cup was held in Germany in 2011, including the Final.
Technically, the standard was very good, and I think now it's even better. You cannot compare it to the Men's game, and it would be unfair to do so. The same applies to any sport. People still watch Women's Tennis don't they? We still find the Women's 100m final in the Olympics worth watching. Yes, it is not the same as the Men's events, but it is still sport. If people complain that Women's football is no good as it doesn't compare to the Men's game do we then not bother watching ANY Women's sport?
Does watching Bristol Rovers compare with watching Man City, Barcelona, Liverpool, Spurs etc etc? Of course it doesn't in terms of skill, pace etc, but we still watch the Rovers don't we?

I'll definitely be watching. England have some really good players like Steph Houghton, Toni Duggan, Fran Kirby, Lucy Bronze and Georgia Stanway. Also looking forward to watching the likes of Dzsenifer Marozsan (Germany), Alexandra Popp (Gernany), Lieke Martens (Netherlands), Carli Lloyd (USA), Alex Morgan (USA), Crystal Dunn (USA), Saki Kumagai (Japan) and the legendary Marta (Brazil).

"Marta joined Umeå IK prior to the 2004 season during which Umeå reached the final of the UEFA Cup, winning 8–0 on aggregate against Frankfurt with Marta scoring three goals over the two-legs." I saw the second-leg against Frankfurt and she was the stand-out player. It was 25 degrees and sunny, free entrance, and beer tents every where. Top top day out!

One of the best ever in the women's game.

The one area of the game which hasn't improved - for some reason they don't seem to be able to jump. If I was in charge of women's football I would propose making the goals smaller.

I won't be watching. The same goes for non league men's football whenever that gets televised as it's just not good quality. I could tolerate watching Rovers playing at that level but never watched any other matches. I'll be aware of the WC results because the BBC website will force feed it on us by putting it top of their news and sport pages.

I'm not against the women's game getting coverage, but the BBC really do try too hard to please.

One of the best ever in the women's game. Marta is a horribly overrated flat track bully. France will be hard to break down, Mbock and Renard are wonderful centrebacks. England are at an interesting stage, lots of promising young players. We'll miss Nobbs and Christiansen going forward, Jodie Taylor is in cracking form for Seattle Reign so hopefully she can take that into the tournament. I fancy Lucy Staniforth to have a good tournament for England, probably the best footballer in the squad with Nobbs injured. She too has had injury problems but I think she could at last show her early promise on the biggest stage.
